I've seen these things a lot in American Truck Simulator. I knew what they were for; organizing trailers, but I had no idea what they were called until I discovered this video.

When cars became king they made a law that the door had to be next to the driver to eliminate the conductor but there is nothing to stop an electric prime mover and the new double deck Trailerbus.

Reminds me of another video I watched recently about long distance trailer buses operating in Iraq by a company called Nairn. These were long distance intercity routes across the desert and the buses were air-conditioned. This was in the 1920s-30s IIRC.

I don't know but it seems like a cold and windy hell to live (or stay there longer periods) despite the interesting nature.

Yukon, look into the Kress Personnel Carrier used in Antarctica, mostly carries people and cargo from Phoenix airfield to McMurdo station.

I believe the passengers prefer to have the driver in the same space with them. Better communication. Less like some kind of robot vehicle.

The Vliehors express, we still have one in Holland,, sorry, not a real trailer that is. DAF, Amsterdam, you did your research, that is the only project i know of. We never kept one in a Museum.

My guess why they would be used this setup was that you could hook up a different tractor if you had an engine problem. But the cons seem to out weigh the Pro now a days.

the reason trucks look rather simple in germany is, that nearly all trucks are companie owned, and while lightbars and stuff look cool, from an economic view, they only cost money ...

Cuba maybe the only country to still run trailer buses or 'Camel' buses in their perspective, but I'm sure some other countries still has these on the road. Philippines used to have 2 trailer buses since the 80s, but sadly they were short-lived into the 90s because of their length and the streets were too narrow to pass.

Norfolk Virginia had trailer buses in the late 40's. The very front of the trailer had no windows so was quite dark. This was where black folks were forced to sit.

Hence why I took an aveo sedan an built my own here in the states. 30+ mpg and a 5'3" bed with the gate up, 7' bed with the gate down. Got tired of waiting for one of the manufacturers to bring a regular cab ute to the market. I hardly have a trip out where I don't get questions or requests for a picture of it. 😂

Here in South Africa, companies often provide transport for their employees, and so if the company operates a truck fleet, then they'll probably just buy a trailer or 2 for picking up and dropping their employees.

Missing the gigantic Marmon-Herrington "Pullman" buses used by the Nairn Transport Company to run cross country trips in the Middle East in the 1930s. These were more like airliners, with two classes (first class and coach), a kitchen for meals, air conditioning, refrigeration, and spaces for the three drivers to sleep as they took shifts on their 18-24 hour long journeys.

Fact about indian 1.Indian trucker only allow other vehicle to overtake them on the blind side😂😂😂 those make accident. Smaller vehicle also breakcheck trucker either by stopping or by slowing, pretending not knowing. 2.On the city or public area smaller vehicle like bike, scooty, suv etc.. Are the boss. While on the highway where no cctv and less people. Trucker are the king of the road. They hit and run what ever come on there way. 3. On the check post. police give there best to fine commercial vehicle and outsider. 4.indian truck are cheap but the trucker income are lower. So low that they can't afford to buy new truck before there warranty is over. 5. Indian trucker earn money only to buy new truck once there old truck can no longer work. There is no profit of hard work. 6 indian trucker love to drive no matter how hard they work. Driving is there lifestyle. 7. There are no fix rate for trucker. They compete to lower there rate amount themselves I am an Indian trucker too. I know we are dying but no one care. We can't understand that we are not earning. We are mostly uneducated. And we love driving

I suffer from severe arachnophobia. Despite this, Jumping spiders don’t frighten me even remotely as much as every other spider does. I also find spiders in general to be incredibly fascinating, which is unfortunate given my fear lol
