What is the difference between copy and paste rather than do this.

Very good question, with copy and paste one can not be selective and can not set specific criteria. Secondly for copy paste you need to pull whole data to find specific records however with vlookup you can search specific criteria and select record that you need to find. Imagine handling hundreds of records. I hope it clarifies.

Very nice! one suggestion: the symbol "~" is not called caret, it's called tilde (pronounced TILL-duh). A caret is the "^" symbol (typically the shift character above the number 6 on an English layout keyboard).
