As far as a musical artist, Tom wouldn’t make a pimple on John’s ass, but I have to say, it takes a lot of balls to sing your talented brothers songs like Lodi in good conscience after taking sides with John’s arch enemy Saul Zaentz, saying he’s my best friend and taking part in screwing John over!😡

If Tom had wanted to, he could have imitated John's voice perfectly. Although John was the very heart of Creedence. Tom could sing. But there was something lacking.
@greggorsag97879 күн бұрын
Right. It’s a good performance vocally, but he doesn’t quite connect with the depression and frustration in the lyrics. Plus there’s too much noodling. John’s gift was knowing what to say, how to say (and sing) it, and when to get the hell outta’ Dodge. But this is all a little unfair to Tom. John was on a level with Dylan and Townes Van Zandt as a writer. One of a kind.

@@popcornproductions5227 that was more a road race than XC event.
@popcornproductions52272 ай бұрын
The course is entirely on a cinder trail besides the field portion. The trail looks like pavement but I assure you it most certainly isn’t.
@isitrachelorj39532 ай бұрын
@@popcornproductions5227 so, you are saying that hardpacked cinder, that you could use a big-ass snowplow on, qualifies as XC? no roots, no rocks, no hills and dales, barely any grass, yeah that's a road race. I've run hundreds of both types races, even won a few in my day, and that course is garbage.
@popcornproductions52272 ай бұрын
VCP can actually be surprisingly hilly in the woods but still there’s plenty of iconic xc courses without roots, rocks, and hill though. XC doesn’t have to be gritty all the time in fact it often isn’t.

I was honestly expecting worse with his description of it as "K.C. and the Swampshine Band." It sounds like that song "Witching Eyes" or whatever.

alright I understand why he would have wanted this shelved forever , let’s be honest the album is mediocre. But for us forgerty fans it would have been such a gift to see it released someday, although that’s impossible because the master tapes were destroyed

I met Tom in 1970. He was a kind and good man. He was part of Creedence. It is a tribute to John that he covers John's song. Creedence was complete with him on rhythm guitar. But Creedence would never have been as successful as Tom Fogerty and the Blue Velvets or the Golliwogs until John's unique voice and composition of Susie Q, and the creative genius of Proud Mary and the run of top 10 hits that give CCR lasting power. But I will always see Tom in my recollection of that great music.
@hansmagnusmalcolmsen9354Ай бұрын
John Fogerty didn't compose Susie Q. Rolling Stones didn't compose it either, but they did it in 1964.
