i worked at head office (skocar canada) when these were imported to canada 35 years ago, every single component on these things broke before warranty was up but apparently they were great rally cars in europe

Hi Im from the uk and have one of these, you need to prime the fuel until you stop hearing the squidgy noise, thats what I do, always starts below 0

I use to have one of these cars even in the cold it started on the first turn of the key every time no choke at all and it was really cold here in England uk

I would love to see you doing a cold start on a freezing cold morning without using any choke. How long does it take to start when you don't use the choke?

I think you should have primed the fuel way longer. In fact I think you didn’t primed any petrol at all. As it was sitting for 3 months it needs way more priming. (Depending on how good your fuel pump is.) In order to your question; Can’t prime too much. You’re done when you have no resistance priming after you hear the fuel enter the carburetor. So in the beginning you don’t have any resistance, then you feel some resistance when the fuel comes through the pump, and when the chamber in the carburetor is full (you actually can hear this) you don’t have any resistance. Then pump the pedal 5 times, pull the choke out and don’t touch the pedal anymore. In case it’s flooded like yours eventually was, turn off the choke and start with pedal fully floored (no pumping during the start attempts) and keep the starter going until it runs. When it fires up then pump the accelerator to increase rpm and pull the choke out to keep ik running. I love cold (Škoda) starts. My 105 was recently sitting for 3 weeks. Minus 10, it fired up the second attempt 👌🏻

So you don't know how to start a mighty Skoda..... Pull the choke. Pump the gaspedal 7-8 times. Foot off and turn the key. Starts momentarily nomatter the outddor temperature. No need to prime the fuelpump unless it has been sitting for more than a week. Take it from me.. Tried it a million times in my youth. 3 first cars were 105S, 120L and 120LS. Was trained as a mechanic at a Skoda dealer in the 1980 `ties. Since I have owned cars of 10 different brands...Cars of French, German, Italian, Japanese and Swedish origin. Both my Skoda were always the easiast to live with. Simple and durable, if you took care of it. I miss the distinct sound of the engine. And the squaky sound of the gaspedal on the rubber floormats, in my 105S. Retirementplan is to buy a 1985 Rapid and restore it. Loved those cars.

may be good cares today but the old ones like this were junk, i worked for skocar canada, we imported skodas 35 years ago to canada and everything on these things would break well before it should have usually while still in warranty lol
