Honestly, the enfield’s magazine was always interesting to me because this weapon was the standard issue for the British and it has a Magazine Capacity of 10 rounds, which is impressive when you look at other countries. The difference between this rifle and the others was still at a minimal when compared to its adversaries and allies but it’s still impressive nonetheless. Meanwhile, you have the United States that was entrenched in tradition and they held onto rules of thumb that should have been thrown away after they had their asses kicked by Spanish Mausers in the 1890’s, they held onto silly traditions like the Magazine cut off switch and the Rule of firing one round at a time and to only use the magazine in a heated situation. I believe The British had the hindsight and understood what was necessary to fight against modern small arms, they pulled every precaution they could that was affordable. As far as I understand, hardly any countries designed a double stack Magazine that worked well with Rimmed Cartridges and it takes a little bit of thought into it because of issues like Rim Lock, so pulling that off is pretty impressive, let alone for 10 rounds. Like you said, some troops wouldn’t have time to charge the weapon twice in a heated situation but it did give you the opportunity, which was capable of giving the troop a longer volume of fire.

In case you want another potentially flimsy justification for taking your Mini 14 to the range for French day, Ruger is based out of New England which is the most French and most Irish part of America in terms of where people's ancestry comes from so from that point of view it's very appropriate to take a New England gun to the range for French day in Ireland

The one time I tried the full 10 round load on mine, it malfunctioned with every bolt rack. I tracked it down to the back of the magazine floor being pushed down further due to the rimed casings. The back of the floor would go up slower, then kick out with the rounds due to not being brand new. I guess there was a way around it that's lost to time, but it's just unreliable with more than 5 rounds.

I like your point of view on this. In Switzerland blank firing guns can be acquired by anyone over the age of 18. They're not really all that popular, as handguns are not difficult to acquire but I get why people would want some, mostly collecting without needing to do paperwork and just because people can think they're fun. They can also be used to shoot 15mm colored flares. Subbed ;)

I reckon it gives you a chance to get the feel of a type of weapon , legally, that otherwise one may not be able to use....again legally. Cheaper blank rounds has got to be good. Its the same with deacs etc....I couldn't lawfully own a live bren gun, but I've got a deac....what's the point?, I've got a bren gun....for historical purposes and research that's great for me. I've got a decent collection of guns, but none are 'live' firearms....replicas, air guns & deacs...I occasionally go to a range to use my target air rifle, the rest are used for display and research purposes and that suits my purposes exactly. I don't need any of the exotic live weapons that people have access to in the usa, sometimes deacs or replicas/blanks or all we can have in the uk and Ireland, so the point of them?....you used the example of zero alcohol beer, I'd say its like having an old or classic car in a garage, you can't take it on the road , but you've still got it....if you get me?....long answer but I get what you mean Jude 😊

Maybe I'll get a lot of hate from the early 20th century rifle enthusiasts but it seems to me that every notable bolt action rifle that wasn't a Mauser was a copy of a Mauser so it doesn't bother me too much if the Berthier was a bit suspiciously similar to the Mosin-Nagant
@Irishpewtuber4 ай бұрын
@@JimMorrisonsBathtub it doesn't bother me in the slightest.

The mosin was heavily based on the label and so was the berthier. The mosin barrel is a direct copy of the profile of the Labell barrel. The berthier used basically the same barrels and the labell. 7.62x54r is a much better round than the 8mm labell (necked down 11mm gras) but even the 7.62x54r was loosely based on the profile of 8mm labell.
