I bought it for my 17 year-old-gelding five months ago. I acquired him several years ago. He always seemed to have vague, low level discomfort and just looking "off". He laid down daily for more time than one would expect for a normal snooze, and he had just an overall pissy disposition and look on his face. My vet and I thought he was mildly colicked on more than one occasion. Out of desperation, I started him on Gastro Phix about five months ago. After five weeks on this stuff he was no longer laying down and "picking" at his flanks... or looking generally annoyed with life. In fact I haven't once seen him lay down now for about three months. I also have a twenty-seven-year-old PPID mare who has been battling severe diarrhea off and on for the last two years. I thought, 'what the heck, let's put her on this supplement and see what happens.' That was three months ago. Her poop has never looked better, and she's finally gaining weight. The only thing that has changed in these horses' diet is the Gastro pHix.

True?
@BluebonnetAnimalNutrition2 ай бұрын
Actually, in almost every case this is false! One forage source - whether that be hay or pasture can RARELY meet all nutritional requirements for horses. The best way to see where you are at is to get a pasture or hay analysis through a lab, to pinpoint what nutritional gaps exist and need to be filled.

Who braids those manes and why do you braid them? I took several lessons from Richard when you were in Ojai. You were there a couple times. Just wondering how long it takes to braid those manes like that. You make a great couple. Just bred my mare to Shiney Outlaw and now have a 9 month old buckskin stud colt. He is gorgeous. I bred to Shiney Outlaw because of your world record run narrated by Sandy Collier. Very impressive!! I used to tell everyone that if I could ride like anyone on the planet it would be Richard but after your run on Shiney Outlaw I now want to ride like a girl.

Such a great question! We actually asked Sarah how long it takes to braid Trudy's mane...an hour! Manes are braided to protect hair and keep horses with longer manes cooler during daily exercise! They must be maintained frequently to achieve good results. Of course, the best nutrition out there helps them grow long, strong, and shiny!
