If only it was lighter and had a spade rudder. 18.2 tonnes lightship on a 45 ft waterline length is just too heavy & slow and increases loads on rig rudder & crew too much.

It's lighter than the HR50 or the Allures 51.9, and the latter is aluminum. A spade rudder would be exactly opposite to Dick Beaumont's vision for the boat. I don't know if I would commission a K50, but I admire Beaumont's vision to zig while everyone else zags.

@@SuperSventizeMe in practice is much easier to make a spade rudder strong than a skeg. Skegs are very difficult to laminate and attach. Metal reinforcement of skegs never works long term due to differential thermal expansion and differential aeration. It's impossible to bond grp to stainless and stainless is awful with no access to oxygen. Beaumont's skeg, like his keel is just marketing. He probably really believes it, but that doesn't mean it isn't bullsh*t.

Hurray for slab reefing! This is my dream boat. Just look at that mechanical/engine room. Love the pilot house and chart table. Zero keel and Alpha rudder are the most logical ingredients I can imagine. And, it looks cool to boot!

I want to like these, I really do... but laminate table tops and counters? REALLY!?!? LOL no thanks. I understand cats need to stay light but the interiors too often just look like they're unfinished or built in someone's back yard. But thankfully they're twice the money as a mono at least ;-)

He drives it himself, just him and his wife have been travelling around. It's well set up for single handed docking, but there's also plenty of space for a captain.

A great boat. I used to own her in the early 2000s. Very sea worthy. In one part you can see where the lamp was damaged in a knock down out in the Tasman. Marabout is a Battle Honour for the Dorset Regiment.

Half a million dollars is an insane amount to pay for any Bavaria, let alone a 46 footer. My new 2024 generation Bavaria 46 is currently being built, and it cost me less than 270k with full equipmenment. I can see this one is very well equipped, but it's still far too much. Look at the condition of those laminate sails...

I have a feeling the currency you're quoting may be in USD, Euro or GBP. This is currently for sale in AUD currency which is quite well priced in the Australian market and includes 15% duty GST. Hope this helps solve the query. All the best with your new boat, she sounds beautiful!

Boat prices are insane. Im pretty sure the listing price on this is higher then what it first sold for 10 years ago. Still, its a gorgeous boat...
