Does the backup motor only come on when you move the switch or stay on like a the hydraulic pump? I just discovered that our old 96 GMC Topkick with a Versalift 36 has one hid away in the turn table and have no idea how to use it. There are no 12v wires running to the bucket so I assume its meant to be operated from the platform. There are no switches for it anywhere but it does have like an old ford solenoid on the side of the pump itself. Its a Monarch Dyna M-326.

This switch is meant to be used when you lose power to the boom. You have to turn it on to enable it. If they aren't run at least once a month they can freeze up and stop working.

I heard that only military grade aircraft hydraulic fluid is to be used in bucket truck hydraulic systems. Is that still true today?

The manufacturers all have a certain grade of hydraulic fluid that is recommended.

The main electrical board had a short in it so we replaced the main board and then everything was back up and functioning correctly.

Most of those slide-in camping units hand off of the rear of the truck. I am not sure if the Tommy Gate would clear it.

No not to drive the truck since it is not over 26,000 GVWR i’m assuming this is on a 4500 chassis so you would be looking at about 16,000 GVWR so you can still tow a 10,000 pound trailer and be street legal but as soon as you cross over 26,000 pounds you have to get a class A CDL license

This particular truck is under 25,000 GVWR so it does not require a CDL license to drive it.

By any chance would you know where to find same of this control switch manufacturer won't make it anymore it's communicat through fiber optic line with the main unit .

If enough comes out you may damage the PTO plus there is an environmental hazard.
