Hi there! I'm a little confused about the top of the sleeves. Where you "hem normally & fold back". I'm not sure weather the folded back hem should be on the right or wrong side of the sleeve in the end. Tank you!

First of all, thank you very much for your instructive tutorials. First of all, I'm in reenactment and sew a lot myself. I taught myself. I have a question about the sleeves, how they are sewn by you. There is a lot of tension and movement on the arm seams due to the arm and shoulder movement. And the running stitch, even if it is made small, is only quite loose. Wouldn't a backstab be more durable?

Vänligen, Anncha Hi, Thank you for your explanation of how to sew a linen shirt. I've never understood how the square gusset under the arm works but now I'm beginning to do so. i'm going to watch your Viborg Shirt too and see how you sew it against the bodice. I had to Google how long we've had cats in Scandinavia, and now I'd like to think that your cat's playing with your work might be mirroring a scene back in the Viking era. Yours, Ann

I purchased your pattern and am finally about to start working on the Viborg Shirt! When cutting out my linen, do I cut exactly along the edge of the pattern? Or do I need to add a little extra for seam allowance?

Thank you for this video. My Ancestors where from Viborg. They moved over to Liverpool UK in 1890's and our family has grown vastly with many second names now. Our original Danish name was Clausen. They lived in Viborg but apparently they where originally from Gothenburg Sweden. I have other Danish ancestors called Andersons. Liverpool UK and Scandanavia seem to have rich history between themselves ✌🏻

These videos are such a brilliant help for making period clothing. I only wish I had seen these 6 years ago when I cut out my first two or three attempts of making this tunic.. I didn't know the diagonal seams were just a fold sewn down... I thought it was four triangular panels sewn together, took me many hours more to sew than I should have.. in fact I'm currently working on the third attempt at this tunic I cut six years ago but left it only a little done out of frustration and my poorly functioning male brain 😂 fingers crossed I finish this one half decently 😉

I'm presently making this smokr and wonder would it be accurate from extant finds to make the top band using a Lucet fork?

Your sweater is great! As is your studio supervisor 🐈‍⬛ I know tabby weave was the weave for linen, but do you think or have a feeling that other weavers got bored, i know i do, and wove either twill or huck-type weaves for linen?
@nilleviking3748
@nilleviking3748 Жыл бұрын
I'm not sure
@gigartina
@gigartina Жыл бұрын
If we’re planning the layout for weaving, would you start a narrower warp for the sleeves? Or add two sleeve lengths to the total length? Also, would you weave this in a broken lozenge, or a basic 2/2 twill? I find a lozenge or chevron weave make a less bias-y fabric than a straight draw.

This long shift is in linen, so tabby weaving is the thing :-)

A beautiful white gown! For those of us who are "white challenged", could we dye it? Or start the weaving with dyed threads (takes less room in the dyepot)?
@nilleviking3748

You can dye wool, but linen were natural, bleach og blue ( woad/indigo) 😊

Thanks for this! I’ve tried to figure out how to tension the threads, but never considered a back strap - what a dumb-dumb. And the corners & tassels! Fabulous. Thanks for all your videos - seeing work in real time is invaluable for learning.

They remind me of pants that the Chinese and perhaps Japanese wore. A bit of the Samurai flavor also. MC Hammer too. And of course Genie pants. I just love the way those pants have that center piece that the leg parts are attached to.
