Excellent Video, little hard to make out some of Kornel's English in his video segments, but good quality overall.

Enjoyable video! That's such a common feeling in brogue: oops why did I make that decision that put me here?? Why was I so greedy, why did I play so fast?? Always fun to think through the options though, here are the ones I see: Incineration pot on the gas before it got to you The fire immunity + incineration to burn cloud even after it was on you Haste charm to move through faster Through the door into altar room and close it to block gas Is there a tunneling option with just one charge avail? I forget how diagonal shots work exactly. And finally the nuclear option: Drop the paralysis potion on yourself to displace the caustic gas. You don't take damage, but then you're paralyzed mid-cloud on D26, an unenviable position.

That was.. really painful to watch. lol. I kept wondering how you were going to mess up but I reeeaally didn't see that one coming.

That sucks - I feel like you could have been able to make it to the stairs and hanged out there for a bit though.

"ahh phoenix! no!" that was so hilarious i gave myself heartburn... you panicked. you could have thrown fire into the gas to burn it away, you even did that like 5 minutes earlier. i know i've done the same thing a few times myself, where i run to escape the gas and get cornered. one time, i got cornered and the gas stopped spreading 1 square short and i was like "phew, i'm safe" and i start hitting rest to wait it out and 30 turns later, it spreads into my square and i die.

just so you know, the room with the glyphs and the stone guardian holding the key...you're supposed to get the guardian to step near the blue water trap, then set off the trap and the key will slip out of the guardian's hands and then when the water drains, you can pick up the key

Just watched til the end...oh that one stung. I knew what happened anyway as I came here from your forum post but..not like this, damnit not this way, c'mon - aw sonofabitch! It's like a cheap horror cliché, having to watch you run towards the bloat that you obviously didn't spot. Actually, knowing how it ended made the whole thing more dramatic because every time you interacted with a bloat (twice before) I was thinking that was it. Okay then..I'm going in.

This is great to watch for me I died on d26 last night after a really satisfying long game. I didn't make it to the amulet before a dragon, which had followed me from d25, killed me with fire. I often consider recording a video, possibly a replay commentary, but when I die (and die I shall) I instantly lose all inclination; I think you've got the right idea by recording while you're still alive but near the end of a potentially winning effort. "Sanctuary, that's not very useful" - the 'eck? I guess sanctuaries don't block the Warden (I seem to remember it working but that seems far too east) but they block everything else so they're incredible useful! I know you'd be running away anyway but it would stop fast travelling enemies from reaching you. Anyway, I haven't watched til the end yet so... -RiC

Wow you totally would have survived if you had just stopped 4 squares up. Very, very good for a 1st game.

I believe the lack of diagonal movement through doors is emulating the way it was done in the original Rogue.

I really like it how drinking in the game is like a form of hunger clock that doesn't kill you, but is still a large part of the game. I'm sure that idea could be taken even further. :D

beer muscle combat mechanics and alcohol themed hunger system is hilarious... I'd love to see some tilesets for this game

Yes, it's definitely possible, just harder. Which is interesting, as many people playing feel thematically compelled to try the harder path. It's not often you get many players choosing to deliberately make the game harder for themselves!

What a fascinating game! I admit the plot makes me uncomfortable, but of course that's part of the point. :) I think it'd be interesting if it was possible - maybe very difficult, but possible - to survive and beat the game without alcohol at all.

You totally could have killed them by suffocating them. Their shields were still down for 5 ion cycles. You would have had time to fire about three ion shots at their medbay, stopping it from healing them, and killing the crew from lack of oxygen.

asking for some subtitles now would be impossible, but what about the name of the games?

Artaaax! But yeah, good job! I picked up the game yesterday and I've only had time to reach the boss once. I died, naturally. This gives me hope for my next playthrough though.
