Good walkaround. Tired of the overdone city center walk arounds! Used to go to Coventry Tec years ago then on to The Lanchester. Greetings from Arizona, USA.

Know Beechwood Avenue & Rochester Road ever so well. I'd cross the A45 near my house, then either go down Canley Road & through the Riddings or through the Canley Ford, onto the narrow bridle path between the Hearsall Golf Club, then onto Bates Road, onto the corner of Beechwood. Then I'd walk toward St. Barbara's Church, then turn right on the other side of Rochester Road, then walk towards Radcliffe Road, then Earlsdon Street. A journey done many a time over the years. Love Earlsdon, for it holds many happy memories for me.

Had a walk around my city quite recently taking photos of the old, ruined city walls, Lady Herbert's Garden & the two medieval city gates that still remain. The photo from my mobile phone came out really well despite the rain.

Well done. I grew up in Coventry long ago and cannot believe in the drastic changed that have taken place. Seems that Lady Godiva has been relegated to make way for the 'amusement wheel". Greetings from the USA. Happy New Year.

Thank you very much! I love walking around Cov City Centre when I get back there. I grew up less than one mile away and this was my playground, very different back in the 70's/80s. The centre looks spotless too!

Ive looked through these gates. Wonderful sight. Imagine all the people its served in over 300 years. Such a pity that the war so badly damged coventry which must have been stunning before. Glad you can still buildings today.😊

Lady Godiva used to be a most central part of Broadgate, now, she seems an afterthought, relegated to proletariat walk byes.

In the 1960s it was all English businesses. There was a Co-op (now gone, but the building remains I believe) and a cinema (The Regal). There was a toy shop where I bought my first Dinky toy, and one of the side streets had a fantastic bakery. We lived in Courthouse Green and used to walk to the Foleshill Road area to shop. My mother bought our clothes at the Co-op. As kids we borrowed books from the Foleshill library.

poor Lady Godiva, no longer surrounded by green grass, now paved in by acres of horrible, soulless pedestrianisation.

You can tell this area is affluent by the cleanliness of the streets and the lack of crowds. Moneyed people don’t want to live near plebeians.

Nice one. I keep asking when they'll put the benches back in, but no solid answers. Took them away in early-2020. Used to be a great place to sit and have a little think. The bandstand at the top has benches as well but they boarded it up completely because too much drug dealing and drug taking was happening in that area.

After the Xmas market bit in Godiva Square, if you'd gone down the slope of the Upper Precinct instead of cutting through the side of Primark, you'd have seen a lot of changes as well - the finished series of fountains and plant beds, etc. Or maybe you caught those in a previous video?

I left Coventry in 1962 when it was probably at its peak. I recognise various buildings and of course the precinct area. I do not think that the city has been done any favours since I left. There used to be grass in Broadgate not soulless slabs. What a dreary, drab ,heartless place it looks. I will definitely not be returning.
