Only the Europeans used to call it persia since they referred to ancient Greece sources. but Persia is a long lost entity and after that many other rulers came and went. it was SAFAVID Turkic kingdom when first European contacts were made by the British and Portuguese. later during an Afghan invasion the Safavid collapsed and their territory fell to Afsharid Turks after years of conflict. after Nadir Shah's death the area fell to civil wars and from thise ashes the QAJAR Turks took the dominance. conquering most if the late Afsharid holdings, the new QAJAR Turkic kingdom rose. at the rise of twenty's century a British plotted revolt and later a coup caused the end of Qajars and rise of a British made up kingship qhich later they called it as Pahlavi and they also renamed the Qajar kingdom to Iran. the word Iran is taken from Afghanistan mythologies and according to those descriptions it was located in modern Southern Afghanistan and had nothing to do with modern Iran. how ever at the fall of Safavid Turks by the hand of Afghans many of Afghanistan's Tajik speakers immigrated to the Safavid territory, British imposed them as Persians while their Tajik language has absolutely NO sorts of relationship with ancient Persian language. in other words, so called IRAN and Persians are all English fabrications. there are even serious doubts about the origin of so called Persepolis and other talltalea made up in the past century by this British conspiracy.
