I applaud the thought of you being affiliated with the Royal, this is also where my son has been cared for since being diagnosed in Youth at 17. He is now 34 and a client with The Actt team which I thank God for, unfortunately he and we have only gotten worse over the years. I came looking for support on KZbin tonight and found this video. I’ve done it for 8 years and I’m exhausted. My son wanders off every night with his psychosis in charge of his delusional thinking. I track him and find him but then he just walks away. I’m elderly (67) and he’s 35 and very athletic. So I usually have to call the police or crisis hotline to get help. He won’t get in the family car without a struggle. He wants to be homeless. I lose usually the entire night since he hates sleeping at night. So I sleep half the daytime and miss out on any morning activities. He’s on 4 medications, one is the best for schizophrenia. It only helps regain about 50% of normalcy. It leaves us in a gray area where he’s in reality but his reality is not the same as ours. He thinks I’m not his real dad but have been replaced by a robot. He thinks all the neighbors aren’t really in their houses at night but part of empty Hollywood stage sets. He can’t tell when he’s yelling so it disturbs the neighbors. The good news is that he wii someday soon move to a state supported group home here in Texas.

Going to go check checked for narcolepsy Thursday and , after watching this , and knowing I've struggled with falling asleep reading or folding laundry and always falling asleep in class in school. Dr's always thought it was my iron. I took iron pills my whole life and every dr said when i got older is I don't have an iron problem. Later I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and hashimotos , now I got that taken care of and now my falling asleep during the day all day on and off and sleep at night js on and off is making me wonder if I have this. . It's been getting so scary lately and this morning going through it again broke it for me because it was so intense I forced my limp body of of that chair and called my Dr. So now I wait to see Dr. I'm scared . 😢

Getting help for your loved one and going up against the laws like the lanterman-petris-short act in California the parent caregiver is up against GOLIATH. Thank you so very much. My doctor recommended me for a sleep study to check for narcolepsy. I have all the symptoms mentioned and this surely explains alot. I had to drop out of my PhD because of my difficulties. So i seriously understand the underachievement. I also developed delusions based on my hallucinations. I even became hypersexual! 😢 But because of God's grace i can see clearly now, and i was able to talk to some professionals about my trouble sleeping and hallucinations and difficulty focusing. 6 years ago i was referred to a neurologist because i was having twitches and spasms and contorsions upon relaxation. She diagnosed me with Functional Neurologic Disorder. She didnt explain a thing, and told me i needed to see a mental health therapist and that there was nothing she could do for me. Ever since then, ive just thought i was Crazy or my body was processing out a trauma. Over the years, my symptoms have just worsened. Now that im learning this, i think all the muscle things ive been experiencing are "cataplexy". I am hoping for a REAL diagnosis soon. But i think im a good contender for narcolepsy. I appreciate this detailed explanation. I pray my medical mystery comes to an end with this sleep study next month.

It's horrible and everyone looks the other way. No help. You feel so alone. You can't fix them, they lie to you, they break you physically, mentally and financially. But you love them and can't bear for them to be hungry or sick.

I had the best career job ever ( to me ). I foolishly joined a coworker , taking to early retirement.. i freaked out! I didn't understand, or realized what I did. I wanted back so badly!!!! There is virtually no help for those with low-functioning depression. Clinicians and society only seem to care about those who are still useful to society by being high-functioning. All I get in snippets are how I ended up the way I am with no good advice except doing tasks in small batches which is still not enough. I fucking hate this. Meds didn't work, and even my therapist and psychiatrist didn't know what to do with me. Another therapist suggest IOP but I don't have the fucking money for that.
