Been a fan for a while before my dad got three tickets to the One More Light tour. My friend at the time, my dad, and I were gonna finally see them. Found out through a Thomas Sanders tweet while I was at my brothers softball game. I thought it was some sort of prank or internet rumor and Chester was gonna say something to immediately disprove it. I still feel like it should’ve rained that day. It never did. I took it pretty hard as their music was getting me through some rough times. The cherry on top was that it was the summer before going into High School. Fuck. I didn’t know what to do at that point. I couldn’t even listen to Linkin Park for a good while after that. I hadn’t even gotten the chance to listen to the whole One More Light album yet. Eventually I did give it a listen. It was hard but I did it. I drew, I fell into some dark places, I pushed through and I kept listening to them. I resolved to have them as my number one artist every year on Spotify wrapped, as silly as that sounds. But I didn’t want anyone to forget about them, to forget about Chester. Fast forward a couple years and they came out with some unreleased music. Obviously I immediately added those to my list. I kept on with that and they’ve been number one since I resolved to have them as such. Still getting me through hard times. Twenty One Pilots also has helped me but Linkin Park was the first band I genuinely got into and they will always have a special place within my heart. It’s funny how music has a way of doing that. Meaning something so important yet it’s so small in the grand scheme of things. I know this is just another band like many others but the art they’ve made has touched so many. Music is so important to have and to experience and the music that they put out there is special. I’m glad they’ve come back. I know it won’t be the same but the legacy still lives. From Zero is a great intro into this new era and I already can’t wait to hear more. 🖤
