So many epic and readily accessible synths. And that white deluge faceplate is so sexy! Curious if you've tried a Virus TI/TI2 with your current setup? As much as you seem to enjoy powerful digital synths and layering, it seems like it'd be an ideal fit.

@@tjontheroad Finally pulled the trigger on a TI2 desktop several months back and its completely altered my perception of how good digital (VA) synthesis can sound; Nothing modern touches it, imo.. it just oozes character. Having 120 beautiful voices and up to 16 parts has been a dream pairing with Deluge & KSP. The only downside is that it kind of ruined the appeal of Deluge's comparably stale sounding internal subtractive synth for me; Anyway, thanks for the link and for the Deluge sample pack on your site! Lovely drum samples! (Haven't tried the presets yet)

Hey, sorry to bother you (particularly a year later), but: any tips on settings--either MPE on the Osmose or particular stuff to dial in on the synth--to get the Osmose and the e7 to play well together? I just recently got an e7, and I feel like there's a strangeness to how it handles input from the Osmose. Or, more likely, an eccentricity to how the Osmose conveys info to the e7? In any case, the particular issue I have is that the default "ch. press" assignment for keyboard pressure does something sort of weird and quiet and unpredictable. Indeed, I thought it was doing nothing at all--not sending info that the e7 could interpret--at one point. But I guess something's coming through; it just seems sort of . . . quiet and minimal and partial? So far, my best luck has been with assigning keyboard pressure to cc 74, but I'm not at all convinced that's the right approach. Seems to amount to throwing out one of the most important MPE outputs! But I dunno. I'm very far from having a complete, proper understanding of MPE. So, yeah, I'm wondering if you tweaked settings on the Osmose, found good things to dial in or avoid on the e7, etc.
@tjontheroad12 күн бұрын
@@Wuldecar First thing you need understand is that Osmose handles MPE differently than other controllers. MPE has 3 control axis called X,Y, and Z. On the e7, X is assigned to pitch, Y is assigned to the filter (CC#74), Z is assigned to aftertouch. On Osmose, X is pitch controlled by the wiggling keys, Y is the initial amount of key downward travel, Z is the additional key pressure when you push down on the key. With this in mind, program the e7 to respond accordingly. Cheers, TJ

GR 55 has left the chat
@tjontheroad15 күн бұрын
The GR-55 was released in 2011 and is amazingly still in production in 2024. Its development lives within the SY-1000 and GM-800 in many ways. Although the SY-1000 has more advanced amp models than GR-55 COSM. The GM-800 has the full ZenCore synth engine inside rather than just the PCM samples in the GR-55. If the SY-1000 and GM-800 ever have a baby, it would truly be the GR-55's successor. Thanks for watching. Cheers, TJ

If they are the same technology dsp, what is the reason for the different power requirements? 600 MA vs 1200 MA. Also, is there a difference between the two in latency?
@tjontheroad17 күн бұрын
I suspect the additional power requirement for the GX-100 are due to the increased number of LED for the footswitches and the amp switching relay that isn't on the GX-10. Also given the GX-10 is a newer design, Boss may have done some work optimizing the the power requirements. Latency is the same. Thanks for watching, TJ

The manual is somewhat confusing as is the interface. When the "mode" button is off, the SEM is selected. When the "mode" button is on, either the MINI, 2600, Juno 24dB, Juno 6dB, or Mix is selected. I'm trying to decide between the GX-100 and GX-10. Given the limited number of footswitches on the GX-10, I'd like to know more about the Bank/Number control mode, where you can select from any of 3 patches and also use the CURR NUM feature of pressing the selected patch's footswitch again, to give you the CTL functionality for each patch. In this mode, do you have access to "long presses" of footswitches? Can you change the default behavior of pressing 2 switches at once (the default being bank up/down)?
