I often had thoughts to hop the rails when I was younger. To feel somewhat free, have ambition, getting out and seeing parts of the lower 48 if not all, and meeting people that are super cool. I just hope Mr. Shoestring has his own train car in heaven and wished I could have met him. Sounds like a great guy to run with. Shoestring, show them the ropes and ride on.

Taking that ride on the westbound now shoestring.. rest in the Big Rock Candy mountains now..

Oh geez I had been gone from his channel for a while I was completely immersed he was like a Jack London and all those legends who rode the rails over 100 years ago there are no words I don't think I can bring myself to watch his last posted videos from four months ago 💔😢.

Appalachia is a place where the tough has always lived, we go through rough times but we will always pull through. Don't ever count us out. Born and raised Harlan County. The world has alot to say about us Appalachian people, but the people I know are loving, hard working, loyal people. We need prayer, we have some issues just like everywhere else, so please pray for the families those suffering that they find peace and healing.

Got watching this video for the train then a question hit me.. Out in left field question but I heard it once so maybe somebody here knows. Supposedly.. somewhere in eastern Kentucky maybe in 80s or 90s a train was said to have hit a hovering "ufo" lol. Out there I know but I've heard that from many different places so any idea how that got started? Thx all. Good videos.. trains are interesting.

When you opened the video, I immediately recognized Bradley’s. Starting in 2005 our church youth would come down and help improve people’s houses as best we could. On our first trip down, we painted the house behind one seen at 9:54 timestamp. Behind the white one with the red shutters. We bunked at the Survival Center. We became hreat friends with the Simpsons. Becky Simpson was Bobby’s wife. Her maiden name was Day. Believe she had a twin brothrr named Hiram. Both Bobby and Becky have been called home but I stay in touch with their grandson Bobby Doyle Rowlett. Used to visit with his son Robert when we were in the area. Good people in this neck of the woods. Sadly Covid ended the trips and eventually took Bobby’s life. Thanks for the memory jog. My wife and I need to get back there soon .
