I would use the 3 dots for joker bait because the 3 craks would be used with the 6 bams and 9 dots for 369 #3-2 where each suit must be represented.

During the Charleston, focus on hand development and pass as defensively as possible with unneeded tiles. If you don't need tiles you received in a pass, pass them on but check to see if you can make changes to mitigate the risk.

American mah jongg is a game of multiples - every hand on the card requires them. I play and teach to target multiples and keep tiles that can be used with them. In the case of Pull 1, the multiples are 3 dot and white dragons, so I let the 789 tiles go. Also, consecutive run hands in the Winds and Dragons category use Winds, and in Pull 1, there were no winds.

@@maryannh3317 All mahjong sets come with Flower tiles. There are two sets of Flowers, Seasons (1 SUM, 2 SPR, 3 AUT, 4 WIN) and Flowers (1 PLUMB, 2 ORCHID, 3 CHRYS, 4 BAMBOO). For Asian styles, the Flowers are bonus tiles and are not part of the 14-tile hand. If a player has a Flower and it is the same number as their seat for any given hand (1 EAST, 2 SOUTH, 3 WEST, 4 NORTH), they will get additional points if they win. For American mah jongg, the Seasons and Flowers together are called "Flowers". The numbers and letters on the Flowers do not matter. If a hand calls for a Flower, indicated by an F, any Flower tile will do. Many times, sets will come with extra Flowers, Jokers, and blank tiles. 38:45 There was potential for Quint #4 using the pung of green dragons, but it was a long shot because I had only one flower, one joker, and little multiples with number tiles. So, I gave up the pung of green dragons because I was focused on a hand with no gaps and two pair, Consective Run #3-1.
