I know this is an old post (no pun intended) but mine has started dropping to the middle position as I ride without hitting the lever. Any idea why?

Mate ur find that the post has a bend in the shaft this is because ur seat is set so forward its corseing massive pressure and over hand ur seat rails need to be in the Center so ur weight is balanced

The DOSS I rode in Canada had the same noise and play. At first I thought the seat rail clamp. Turns out it is part of the design as other have stated, which is a big part of the longevity. After riding other seat posts that fail unpredictably or work well some days and slowly fall others, I am tempted to buy another DOSS for my new bike and live with the knock.

Almost had it, just kept picking his head up too fast and push himself up instead of hitting the hip snap. Close though and good setups

I personally don't like lubrication on seatposts. I've used a shim on all my bikes with the 27.2 GravityDropper post. The ONLY solution I found that actually lasts longer than 10 miles is TEFLON TAPE. Wipe grease off with alcohol, wrap teflon tape (plumbers tape) once or twice around your seatpost (or shim if you use one) and insert it back in. It will last you more than 30 miles.

The noise will still be there in the other positions. Can't do anything about that. I do like it better than my two Kind Shock posts. The infinite adjustment is nice, they have MUCH less play than the DOSS. But you can't get parts to service them and both of them died. One after 8 months one after 2 years. My GravityDropper has been good for over 3 years, it's also clunky like the DOSS; maybe a little less. If the DOSS is clunky but reliable, I think I'll learn to live with it.

I have three Fox D.O.S.S. posts. Two 31.6 and one 30.9. My 30.9 is making exactly the same noise as yours. The 31.6 make the noise but it's a little quieter. Check the pressure on your post; drop it as low as you can so it still works. The reason post gets the clunk is that the pressure moves the post back up when you lift off the seat and when you sit down it clunks. With a low enough pressure it doesn't move the seat up, so unless you pull the post up with your legs you wont get the noise.

my Fox DOSS seatpost makes noise as well but it has nothing to do with the play in the seat clamps. my seatpost starts creeking every 2-3 rides. The noise can be unbearable at times. i have to lubricate the seatpost shaft (the part that inserts into the frame's seat tube) in order for the noise to go away. once I've lubricated the seat tube/post the sound goes away completely but only lasts for 20-30 miles.

Indeed I did. I also have moved the post up about half an inch since this video but the noise remains. Fox responded to me, and they just said that the noise is part of normal operation! Anyway, I'm stuck with it now.

It is definitely strong enough, and easy to move left and right. You can adjust how easy it is to move via tightening various nuts.

@mikeylikesit18 Peerless did indeed send me another mount quite promptly. However, while the new mount is a touch better, there is still wiggle in the 2D plane of the tv as shown. This is not to say that the mount as a whole is flimsy, it is not. In fact it is quite good. It is sturdy with the only problem being the wiggle and perhaps that the second joint is too tight, but that can be loosened with the appropriate Allen key. The wiggle really is just an artifact of the slimness. I recommend.
