I always use an engine flush at 5000 mile oil changes to clean residue gunk out . Though it requires the removal of the intake manifold on my 2020 Toyota Camry to remove / replace it . I'm hoping as on other camry's , it could be accessed by removing front passenger side wheel . Then plastic fender well lining .

I found with one car I had with a bad MAF sensor that barely ran, all I needed to do is unplug it. It would then idle a little higher and likely run a little richer. Spent ~$80 for a new one and it failed in a year or two so I unplugged that and got another from the junkyard for ~$5 that lasted a few years till I sold it still running well.

Viscosity is defined at two temperatures on the can/bottle/jug of oil: 10W30 means: an "oil that is the viscosity of a 10W oil at 0C" and also it is an "oil that is the viscosity of a 30W oil at 100C". It varies of course at all temperatures. This is SAE definition.

In the 70's you could buy a oil flush you added to the oil then drove 100 miles and replaced the oil and filter. This was to help clean the inside of the engine. a mix of kerosene/ trans fluid did the same thing.

Change every 10.000 miles the motoroil include filter. Your engine does wear only the minimum. Oil change cost are minimal. Use for example Mobil oil than you are sure that the quality is premium.

Most important: 1. Plug the bottom drain port B4 putting the fresh oil from the top. If u run the car, u'll leave nut(not) only an embarrasSkinned trail of black buttto, worse, welded engine pistons. 2. Plug the big top pouring cap after the fill up. Or, the oil will spew out onto the hood bottom, ruin the sound insulation lining, or even worse, u'll end up w not much oil left to cool the engine B4 u reach home Those two above r more important than what's shown in this video. Yes? Regardless of who does the engine oil change, always look down under 2c if the new oil is nut draining out to the ground. Open the engine hood n make sure the top cap is on too. 3. Scratch ur oil fltr B4 u take ur KAaa for an oil change shop and chk it after the job is done B4 u leave 4. Always recycle the used oil. Autozon, Advanced Auto, Napa, ur town autoshop would take ur oil for a few cents/gal. Don't ever dump it in ur sink, street sewage drain, etc. It'll contaminate our water resources, rivers, n oceans and u'll b eating and drinking oil for ur health n enjoyment Hope ur now better informed to save ur KAaah for many good rides

2:16 The video shows used oil is being applied to the OF gasket not fresh oil 🤔 Prefilling the oil filter with oil is necessary to prevent powertrain dry start up.
@stevest1300
@stevest1300 3 күн бұрын
No. Many filters are side mounted or more recently top mounted on many cars and filling them isn't even possible. The fraction of a second it takes for the oil to flood a dry filter does nothing. The first stop for the oil after leaving the filter is at the top of the engine at the cam. Most sit in oil and any air from the filter is simply a momentary fart. The cams first rotations are in the standing oil or oiled from oil in the oiler lines.

@tomjohnson5700

@@ProAutoTips Explain how to prefill a filter that is mounted sideways or up side down? Also many cars come with drop in cartridges I've owned several. Also you can use old oil on the filter gasket. I have been changing my own oil for over 50 years and never had any trouble using drain oil to coat the gasket.
@ProAutoTips
@ProAutoTips 21 сағат бұрын
@@tomjohnson5700 Yeah you can coat old oil but it is ideal to use fresh oil because old oil has contaminations that may lead to different issues. However, Prefilling an oil filter that mounts sideways or upside-down can be challenging because the oil will spill out when you install it. However, there are steps you can take to minimize spillage while ensuring the filter is properly lubricated and prepared: 1) Partially Fill the Filter i) Add oil to the filter, but only enough to wet the internal media. Avoid completely filling it to the brim since the oil will likely spill during installation. ii) Tilt the filter slightly while adding oil to allow the media to soak it up more evenly. 2) Lubricate the Gasket: Apply a thin layer of fresh oil to the rubber gasket on the top of the filter. This helps create a better seal and makes it easier to remove later. 3). Rotate the Filter While Adding Oil: Slowly rotate the filter while adding oil so it can soak into the media without overfilling. 4) Be Ready for Quick Installation: Once the filter is prepped, move quickly to install it. This reduces the time oil has to spill out. Have a rag or paper towel handy to catch any drips. 5) Top Off the Oil After Installation: Once the filter is installed, check the engine’s oil level and top it off if necessary. Starting the engine will circulate the oil and fill the filter completely.
@1crazypj
@1crazypj 17 сағат бұрын
@@stevest1300 Even an 'upside down' oil filter can benefit from having the filter media 'wet' as it often takes 10~30 seconds for oil light to go out. If you change cars every few years you probably don't need to worry about accumulated wear but if your buying an older used car it could be a problem.

Changing the oil when cold: you get MORE oil OUT when you do it this way.
@7spower998
@7spower998 4 күн бұрын
Nope! Hot oil pours out more from the oil pan and galleys than cold oil. Hot oil viscosity is thinner, while cold oil viscosity is thicker. So, you want to warm up the engine by driving the car to heat up the oil before draining the oil out of the oil pan.
@johnclyne6350
@johnclyne6350 4 күн бұрын
@@Support_Ad_Blocker I wish I could. I don't have a lift in my garage. Nor would one fit. There is a cross over exhaust pipe right where I remove the oil filter & the drain plug. If I heat up my engine first? I risk getting a nasty burn at the least or worse an engine fire. Asshole engineers never think about the poor slob that has to work under that truck to change the oil.

@@johnclyne6350 They are indeed making it harder for DIYers! Toyota has a silly cartridge oil filter that comes in pieces, and you have to put to together. No more quick, easy non-messy changes. And look at what they’ve done to transmissions. An inner fill tube that you have to remove to get the fluid out. All to discourage people from doing it themselves. All these channels keep saying it could be a faulty throttle position sensor but what if you have an electronic throttle body?
@ProAutoTips
@ProAutoTips 5 күн бұрын
If your car has an electronic throttle body (ETB), the system is slightly different but still depends on sensors like the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) to function properly. In vehicles with ETB, the throttle opening is controlled electronically, not directly by a cable linked to the gas pedal. Electronic Control Unit of your vehicle monitors inputs from various sensors (TPS, accelerator pedal position sensor, etc.) and sends signals to the ETB motor. Throttle Body Motor moves the throttle plate to adjust airflow based on ECU instructions. Throttle Position Sensor still exists to report the actual throttle position back to the ECU.

what about Mobile 1 20,000 miles filters, they are guaranteed to work for 20,000 miles, would you change it every oil change?
@dejandezman6139
@dejandezman6139 6 күн бұрын
The filter should be changed with each change. This is because some old oil also remains in the filter and when changing it, we want to drain out as much of the old oil as possible. If you think it's a shame to change the oil filter so early, then delay the oil change for about 3,000 miles and change the oil and filter at that time. Of course, it is not necessary that you have to change the filter as well, if you change the oil earlier than the filter is supposed to last, then nothing will be wrong with the filter.
