very interesting, thanks for sharing. found this while looking for a way to engrave a sphere completely. not sure if I should try mapping on wedges or (conical) rings to do it. any tips?

Had a question. So far I am not able to do any 2.5D work on the machine so am looking for software settings that allow me to use 3d grayscale images to produce relief with contours. On my Epilog CO2 machines there is a 3D options but I cannot locate this when switching over to the Galvo. Finally would appreciate a new settings table as the included documentation is limited to just a small handful of substrates. Thanks!

Are you not listening? Epilog pulse lets you print from any device…what more do you want?

Great news - but where is the app? Can't find it on the app store & this promo doesn't contain a link.
@epiloglaser21 күн бұрын
The Pulse App is native to the machine. You'll need to be connected via Wi-Fi, USB, or Ethernet connection to a machine with the latest firmware 1.1.0.2 installed (as of 6/12/24).

What is the thing you are placing the acrylic on? Thank you
@epiloglaserАй бұрын
The idea is to elevate the acrylic to reduce backside reflection, so just about anything around your shop would work. Some people stack coins under each corner, or you can elevate it using Legos or other blocks. You just want to elevate it a few inches - it results in a smoother cut.

What factors do you consider when choosing the frequency?
@epiloglaser4 ай бұрын
Frequency plays a crucial role in achieving clean and precise cuts across various materials when cutting with your Epilog Laser machine. In the case of wood, in order to minimize the charring on the cut edge we recommend a lower frequency to achieve less burning/charring, but thicker and more dense the woods may require a bit high frequency to achieve a clean cut in one pass. When cutting materials like acrylic, plexi, and sign plastic, we recommend higher frequencies to achieve a clean polished edge that requires no or very little clean up.

We used a metal marking compound which aids in marking metals with a CO2 laser. Some commonly used compounds are Enduramark or Cermark.

Is anyone else having major problems with this machine and lack of support? I purchased mine in 2020 during the pandemic and feel like they may have been having some manufacturing issues during that time. I’ve been getting the runaround for years from epilogs technicians. Spent $50,000 and cannot cut anything. I own a fusion edge, small machine and have to cut everything on that machine.
@BrandonAnsara4 ай бұрын
We have over 10 of their lasers, our two pros are by far the most problematic. The dual worm gear y axis rails have been the cause of most of our issues. That as well as random boards going bad. Though their support has been alright.

I wasn't aware you could do these without the rotary. How do you keep the aspect ratio correct on the sides/slopes? This has my brain in over-drive right now. - Also, need to try the foam. I cannot seem to cut through foam without the charring/yellowing...
@epiloglaser4 ай бұрын
Hi Rick - the visual "stretching" of the logo at this size is very minimal, one mm or two or each side, so there is very little need to contract the artwork horizontally in this case. As for the polyethylene foam, we've used the same foam over and over for various projects like tool shadowing and decorate signage, it works great! Here is Laser Project: Sample Club we created with the source of the foam included in the article. www.epiloglaser.com/resources/sample-club/laser-cutting-foam-letters/ Hope this helps!

Thanks for great tips, i just wonder, you didnt set the printing area, is that not necessary?
@epiloglaser4 ай бұрын
Hi @tretexas2405 - with a few initial setup parameters in CorelDRAW and Illustrator and our new Software Suite, you no longer have to enter the page size each time. It is now send over directly to the laser with each print. In order to add more versatility to all your laser Jobs, we do also have the option to set your Laser up so that the laser bed work area is your default size, but this is completely up to you and your preference. Either way, both options and workflows exist so you can work the way you're used to with our laser machines.

Quick note about wetting your leather, don't try to stamp the leather if it's still soaking wet. Once wet, allow it to dry to the point it's cool, but not damp on the surface. This is called "casing" the leather and it will create a much better impression. You just need the water to help glue the fibers together. Too much water makes it too spongy and it will not hold the shape as well.

Newbie here, but why didn’t you leave the stock at its original position, set against both ruler edges, before running the deeper pass?
@manbolomo5 ай бұрын
its says in the description : "Have you ever pulled out an engraving and wished one section was engraved a little deeper, but you've already moved the piece? Here's a quick way to fix it by using Epilog's IRIS™ Camera and creating a secondary process!"
@digitaldiorama5 ай бұрын
@@manbolomo I get that, but I suppose what I’m really asking is - isn’t the camera redundant for this problem if you make a point of using the guides? I think. Doesn’t matter. My 40w Fusion is arriving in 3 weeks & I can’t wait - like a kid who still believes in Santa waiting for Christmas.

@manbolomo5 ай бұрын
@@digitaldiorama im a noob too, trying to figure out stuff, well if i understand it right, this video isnt making a point about the camera, its about the "iris registration system", the camera is always on and just good for you to see things. The iris system is the software trying to use the guides that the camera picked up. If you cant print the guides on the object (like a finished product, a cup, a guitar etc), you would have to eyeball the placement.

What is the difference between your Galvo and Fusion M2 Fiber laser machines?
@rlayoutube5 ай бұрын
The FusionM2 Fiber is a "flatbed" table with a large marking/etching area (32"x20" or 40"x28'). Galvo Lasers (most all brands & models have 4"x4" or 6" x 6" marking field; that can be expanded depending on the lens configuration. Each has their strengths. The choice of which one is best is dependent on the workflow, volume, size of parts etc.... Additionally, a Galvo can achieve DEPTH in metal, whereas a Flatbed fiber laser is pretty much only a surface etch mark. - Randy Allen

How hot does the laser get the steel? Will it change the temper of theblade?
@epiloglaser5 ай бұрын
The heat created during this engraving was very little. The blade was warm to the touch, but not nearly hot enough to degrade the heat treatment or weaken the blade.
