Very interesting town. I think I will head that way and check it out for myself. Take care.

❤ Love it. Maybe look into the radiation in the area from Monsanto selling slag to Soda Springs and Pocatello Idaho.

This video contains various parts of the railroad grade over the span of about 40 miles between "Big Trestle and the ghost town of Kelton. All of which are located west of Corrine Utah. Some of these parts are located within the Golden Spike National Park. I can give you specific locations if you want to identify parts of the video you are interested in.

THIS is a fantastic piece of footage....thank YOU! I've been reading book after book about the TransCon RR, fascinated by all of it. This truly demonstrates the nearly constant cut and fill needed to make one smooth line for the rails. Wow!

That last home you were looking at which was missing the plaque is where my grandmother grew up. Should say home of Walter and Luella Byrne but it may have been built by his father (not sure). It was the first home in Piedmont to get electricity because they got a generator which initially ran a single light :D The house nearly burned down in the 1930s because, as my granny says, her brother lived upstairs (there was an exterior stairwell), and he did something to start a fire. My granny suspects he was sneakily smoking a cigarette. His name was Francis and he went on to fight at D-Day and the Battle of the Bulge. My granny (Fae) says he never was the same after the war but he never would talk about it. Hopefully ya’ll find this interesting. I’ve got a lot of stories about that place. Very curious about the Calamity Jane thing if anyone has more info? I hadn’t heard that but knew the Butch Cassidy stuff. My granny used to keep me busy looking for his hidden treasure when we’d go camp out there, LOL. Never got more than a tick check, which I hated, haha.

We visited recently, and shared some photos. And of course the story of Dr. Durant and his "detainment" by disgruntled workers. Grenville Dodge, Chief Engineer of Construction, said later, that our illustrious "Good Doctor", may have set up this altercation with workers, to chisel more money from stockholders. That issue stopped at Piedmont, the "Wedding of the Rails" at Promontory Summit, UT., from May 8, to May 10, 1869. However, that did not stop our country from a 3 day celebration of that momentous event, as of Manifest Destiny' was finally fulfilled. Thanks.

I had forgotten about this one. Hilarious. Why don't they make more of these types of movies where the humour is more subtle and intelligent, instead of stupid, risky gags?
