One tip, cook the waffles until thwy stop steaming out of the waffle maker. Thats when they are done. Medium setting is perfect.

You didn't show the thickness of the waffle or both sides of the waffle. It also would have been nice if you would have stood up the waffle iron vertically so we could see how it looks for storage. It's one thing to say that it's compact it's better for the viewer to actually see it. Other than that your video was okay.

thanks for the video - I pulled out my Bella waffle maker (which I’ve had for 10 years) - and of course didn’t have the instruction booklet. I saw your video and I’m so grateful for your hints and comments. I had omitted to notice the heat indicator, so my initial waffles were not cooked enough. Once I found the control, I put it on high and it did the trick ! thanks for the video. 🙏

The thing I want to see is a sliced cross section of the waffle. I hate it when the squares are too close touching in the middle and you get those thin burned bits between the waffle thicker bits. The iron produced waffle looked soggy though: too soggy to cut. The iron was probably too hot. Low and slow is better. I do gluten free sourdough with a waffle iron and last year a family member just threw out my many times fixed old aluminum plate with no coating just well seasoned, really good waffle design Sunbeam waffle iron from the late sixties. It was the only way to do gluten free sourdough. I am super bummed.

Hello. Do you know if there are electric wafflers in the market but cast iron or stainless steel? I want to avoid non-stick but I like electric. 🙋🏻♀️

The aluminum waffle maker is coated in PTFE. That’s a no go. Especially adding to the fact that once the coating is damaged it will also leach unhealthy aluminum into your food. It’s a double no whammy.

Anybuddy try one of these cast iron types on a flat glass electric stovetop? Don't eat aluminum folks....it's poison! :)

the coating doesnt come off the nordicware. ive used it many times. if you have waffles every day, maybe it will come off eventually, but if you're a normal person and you have waffles once a week or once every few weeks, its going to last a lifetime. dont sweat it.

We've been using the original non stick for years and it still works great. our whole family loves waffles. This is so easy to use and works well every time. I half the recipe for just two of us or you can make extra and freeze them. One of the best appliances for the money

So does the aluminum one have ANY type of nonstick coating? How about the cast iron one?
@rosalie.e.morgan Жыл бұрын
The Nordic Ware aluminum one has a non stick coating that can be damaged by metal utensils, and cant be replaced. Annoyingly the company lists what's not in it, but makes it hard to find what it's actually made of. The rome cast iron one doesn't come with a non stick coating, but probably ships with a factory coating to prevent rust that's designed to be scrubbed off before seasoning. Seasoning cast iron creates a non stick coating (not as non stick as Teflon, or similar coatings) that improves over time and can be stripped and replaced if needed.

It is not helpful to see a failed attempt with ideas on how things might be improved. Instead, make the video for the final and hopefully successful attempt.

I currently have an Oster waffle maker (wouldn't recommend only because it's so hard to clean)...but am in the market for a cast iron waffle maker (not one made in China). I am in Canada and the only ones I've seen are the Appalachian brand...which I can't get. Any suggestions on where I could order one? It's not the waffle maker that determines thickness, it's the thickness of the batter.
@kristinect Жыл бұрын
If you are still looking, Canadian Tire sells them but you may have to order them or keep checking their stock. They sell the Rome cast iron. Amazon also sells them but most are not free shipping though. I just found one after looking for many months but it was on Facebook marketplace (used). Hope that helps.

@@kristinect thank you. Amazon buys everything from China though. I wanted to get some Egyptian sheets once...and was leery...so I asked the question and the owner said they were from Egypt...the tag on them said 'Made in China'. I was so mad I sent them back.

Yep, I went to buy a set of Egyptian cotton sheets from Amazon, and asked where they came from. Someone said Egypt...they said 'made in China' when I got them. By the way a good tip a chinese company is selling something...they mis spell words or have really bad grammar.
