i love your interpretation of this piece! you captured the eerie feel of the low harmony and as you approach the climax you can truly feel the madness and desolation of the woman’s mind. beautifully done, sir!

i feel classic in this jazz because it was written for Queen Elizabeth. beautiful song💞.
@robpianoful2 жыл бұрын
That's a really good point! I hadn't really thought about that but you're absolutely right. Maybe Duke was showing his respect and admiration by trying to connect to the Queen on what he thought was more on her level - regal, and classic.

@@robpianoful how are you counting that transition from the bridge?
@robpianoful2 жыл бұрын
@@christopherpi2010 man I wish I could give you a better answer than I'm just kind of feeling it - so I guess rubato would be the answer. I think the whole song has this sort of slow 2/4 back beat kind of feel - almost like a hip-hop rhythm. The bridge and the last part are sort of floating - like a bit of a release from that syncopation. I spent a really long time figuring this song out using Amazing Slow Downer, so much of what I'm doing is just internalized from listening so much I guess. BTW - a few years after I did all this transcribing, I did find a handwritten (by Jason himself) copy of the lead sheet for this and verified I did it correctly. He was giving away a signed copy of an album and the lead sheet as a prize or something. There was a small picture of the lead sheet on a Web site which I was able to capture and enhance. Not perfect, but pretty cool. I did a Web search now but can't find it anywhere. I'd be happy to send it to you but not sure how best to do that over KZbin.

Hi from Iran..nice..if you likethis song here is the link of original one which is an old Iranian song that many singers have sung all around the world. kzbin.info/www/bejne/opPXm5lojtF5sLM Singer: Pouran
@robpianoful6 жыл бұрын
I like Pouran's version better! I actually played a gig a few years ago at a restaurant whose owner is from Iran and his 12 year old son was working on the song on violin. He asked if I could accompany his son - which was fun! - and I really sort of fell in love with the song. Has some very non-western forms going on in it. Thanks for the comment and the link!
