This video is very helpful! I have a question. I can do slap tongue quite fluently but my chin moves up and down. What can I do? Thanks
@ScarletGoukSaxophonistАй бұрын
Hello! Usually it happened because you were focusing on the wrong muscle. Try alternating long tone, normal tongue, and slap tongue in a phrase. That way you’ll keep your air moving, and start with a stable embouchure (this should be your main focus) to prepare for the slap tongue. Remember the air flow should not be interrupted by the Tongue movement. If your chin still moves, try to play forte! You’ll feel the air support. Let me know how it goes, Hope it helps! ❤️

How does one do a warm up if I don't read notes? thanks.
@ScarletGoukSaxophonist6 ай бұрын
Hi! You can always warm up without looking at notes. The aim of warming up is to prepare our mental and physical readiness. Avoid muscle cramp etc. The best warm up is to play your usual routine exercises, which are the one you are already familiar in your head and muscle. Because that way you can focus on your sound and enhance your awareness on playing, instead of thinking the notes. My advice would be reading the notes first, and start memorising it. It will take several practice sessions to digest and internalise the music. But when you start playing without notes, and look at things around you, you’ll find joy and connection of yourself, the sound and the present. Because your sound is starting to resonate! Warming up doesn’t hv to be difficult passages, it can be as easy as a long note. Hope it helps! :)
