So the status quo of rich people buying up farms and driving up the price of farmland is what you need, right? Farmers didn’t suddenly arrive on their knees, this has been a long process which hasn’t anything to do with labour. So what’s the argument again?

Funny how nurses can’t afford to buy a house let alone own a £3m farm. Grew up with farmers kids, farmers are tax smart. It’s funny how many farmers claim poverty on a £12k salary… hmm what would be the tax free allowance 🤣 They still afford clever accountants.

I've watched a nurse turn all the alarms off on a dying man's monitoring equipment and just wander off with out a word of why to the family. Is there food on the shelves ? Yes there is. Without farmers you die faster than without nurses

@ 🤣 We are talking about a £3m IHT threshold here. Not a cull of farmers hahaha. My heart bleeds purple p*ss. The IHT land hoarding has only existed since 1984, this isn’t some ancient right.

@MaineDoom so what you are doing is confusing aristocrats and land owners with farmers. I'm not a farmer, but I have worked in agriculture (don't anymore) average farm in uk is about 200 acres. That's barely viable as a farm, profit margins are tiny. But, the land value as is, even though it's probably plummeting now, is over the tax threshold. This tax won't hurt the people you're describing, they've had their inheritance sorted for years. It'll only hurt actual farmers. This can only lead to French style farming (a disaster) or/and food shortage or unaffordable food. Every single time socialist government involves itself in agriculture it results in famine, from maos war on sparrows to ussr and holodomor You understand nothing of the rural community
