'UHF com check?' no reply. 'When are you expecting tracking?' 'One minute ago.' They knew.

I love watching launches from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station sometimes more than Kennedy Space Center. My late father was stationed out there from 1969 to 1971 when we lived in Satellite Beach in the old Patrick Air Force Base south housing units during that time. We saw quite a few rocket launches while we were there both from the Cape and Kennedy Space Center. I guess I'm a bit prejudiced towards the Cape being my dad was stationed there as I mentioned. Great video!

I was driving in St. Pete on this day and saw a bright triangle of lights in the sky. I pulled over to watch and someone else did too. The lights were very still for a little bit and then went in different directions. We had absolutely no idea what it was, joked for years that I'd seen a UFO. I thought of it today and did a deep dive and found this. It's so cool to find out what that was all those years ago. Thank you for the video!

If this system isn't able to track down the origin of the 'drones' flying around in US east coast, it's a very dangerous time we live in.
@oskarwiegaard6 күн бұрын
Ofcause it is and it is 100% 'american'. More accurate, blacksite military projects. But they dont want to share with us what they are actually doing. The drone story is a great distraction.

Also very spooky hearing the controller talking about weather balloon at the Cape and planning a landing that was never going to happen.

"We're processing drag with good residuals" Bascially a way of saying "we have drag but we have good excess control ability" The drag was from the wing starting to deform and tiles coming off.

I can't remember off hand if Flight Control knew about the foam strike on takeoff, I remember watching some doc about them seeing it on video after reviewing the Takeoff tapes but if they knew and then had to watch/experience the worst outcome.. that's unbearable to think about. the helpless feeling my goodness

even in such a terrible moment, all of them kept silence, waiting for their orders and followed the protocols... true Professionals and in my mind heros also. !!! in opposite to any Hollywood Movie I could even feel the tension and power from the silence between the com calls. terrifying !!!

My understanding of this event is that the damage that doomed the Columbia was sustained as she left Earths atmosphere. Even if they had turned around immediately rentry was impossible. They were doomed as soon as they left our planet

"Lock the doors." That sentence sucks. That's the catastrophe sentence. All personnel and computers must be recorded until anyone leaves. Statements, comm logs, and hard drives must be secured. It's a great quirk of the federal government. They gather terabytes of data before anyone leaves.

Look at the sinful smiles on the nasa people. “The public is buying it will can continue to steal trillions of tax payer dollars”. Yeah a damaged heat shield but it didn’t burn the ship up on re-entry. So what happened if the so called miracle didn’t happen they would of burned up on live tv? and months before on the Apollo 12 mission people called the tv station to complain that they wanted I love Lucy instead of showing another fake moon landing. Fast forward 1 year and Nixon removes the dollar convertibility to gold. Hmmm. So clear now

You just know every astronaut on that crew knew about Challenger 17 years earlier and how it could conceivably happen to them :( This is a stupid comment I know but I kind of wish I could wave a magic wand and have the crews of 51-L and 107 talk to each other... separated in time, one crew not ever knowing the fate of the other
