Hi from Grants Pass. I have the large hardback NLT study Bible. Love it but need a crane to move it lol. I was thinking of reading through the Bible and all the notes through a year or two.

Reading the Bible is always such a refreshing time! Now, I don’t know much about the notes on that study Bible so I can’t say whether I’m for or against them personally 😊 I am usually careful when reading notes about the Bible to guard myself from false views. Let me know how it goes!

People get good things for the words they say, and they are rewarded for the work they do. Yes indeed you can most definitely speak something into existence. Look to you're neighbor and say don't be a fool. I can do all things through him who strength me. Do not limit the Creator, because your beliefs are limited.

Wow! I know this video is from 2019 but searching your channel after looking at your video on how to study the bible, I genuinely appreciate this video so much. I have been reading the bible for a few years and this gave me such a gratitude for all the nuggets - and the many things I missed in my reading of 2 Timothy. It inspires a lot of hope and excitement for me, rekindled joy in my daily Bible reading. Not sure if you will see this but thank you!! Can't wait to explore your channel more, I hope you made a lot more of these New Testament Study overviews

I have an honest question. There is plenty of evidence that Jesus's family had/have a tomb (The Talpiot Tomb) and he was placed in an ossuary, meaning that his family and friends were the ones who snuck into the tomb and removed his body so they could lay him to rest property according to his Jewish faith. I really would like to know what Christians think about this. Thank you.

I usually use the notes section in Logos to preach. But I’m now trying to use Sermon builder. How does the final version look as I don’t like it to be too messy if you get my point. Thank you and great video.

So it is actually very clean looking when you come to preach from the iPad. It gives you the option to scroll or use pages (I use pages). The formatting options gives you complete control over font size, highlighting different sections, bolding etc. By doing that it really helps keep the document easy to scan so I don't get glued to my notes 😊 I wish youtube comments would let me drop a screen shot in so I could show you. But I hope this helps some 🙏

I just got baptist gold. What are your favorite most useful commentaries in baptist gold? I was curious, I thought it would help prioritize them. Thanks Phil Foster
@GrantsPassBaptist-Church
@GrantsPassBaptist-Church Ай бұрын
That is awesome! So I splurged and got the complete John Phillips commentary series as well which is the one I prioritized first, then I have Wiersbe’s “Be” series as number 2, then I have the NAC as my number 3, then Christ centered exposition commentary as my no 4, Now none of these are perfect commentaries and each have their strengths and weaknesses. John Phillips and Wiersbe’s are very much like expository sermons which are great for getting a feel for how another preacher might see the text and also a great place to find illustrations. The NAC is more in depth when it comes to language but is not exactly where I am when it comes to text and translation philosophy, but it provides great insights that are deeper than the first two. The fourth one can help you see how Jesus is tied into that passage if you want to make a beeline to the cross at the end of your sermon. Hope the helps some!

The only thing more dangerous for the church is listening to you.. Because that goes completely against the Bible aswell.. And disarms the chruch, keeps the church poor and sick and defeated.. So yes, its very efficient trick of the enemy, even i fell for it.. I can't believe i fell for it.

In this passage there is an expectation of unity among all the churches. First impressions: 1. You haven't met me but here is a letter. 2. I wanted to come see you, but you understand, I have to go to the unreached people first. 3. I will see you soon and I just know you will help me on my way to Spain. 4. Right now I am on my way to Jerusalem with donations from Macedonia and Achaia. 5. Even though I am not a member of your church, please pray for me! Western thinking makes it about me or my church. We are meant to be Kingdom thinkers. You see that a Kingdom community participates in all phases of spreading the Gospel, financial, logistical, encouragement, discipling, evangelizing, and prayer. The more of those any of us do the more we are participating even when it is someone else's turn to do the actual talking/teaching/preaching. The individual reaches a small circle of people, the church reaches a community of people, the Church reaches the world. When I say the world I mean the US and the rest of the world. If there is a church struggling in a key area we need to support it just like we should support them in other countries. Jesus is, or should be, the Head of every church. This means there should be no competition or pride that leads to division. It is never us against them, it is always us FOR them (even if they are mega-churches). If He is the King of our lives, church, and Church, then we should be doing our best to be living in the Kingdom now. Honestly there needs to be more "How to" and less "We should" in Baptist churches. I was a Baptist for years. I was told to live a holier life but I was never properly taught repentance and how that cooperates with the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit. I was told to spread the Gospel which was either handing out tracts, cold calling door to door, bringing people to church, or getting a megaphone and finding a street corner. I was told to be the light but I wasn't properly taught what that looked like. I was discipled with a bunch of commands and expectations but not enough tools. That lead to guilt, frustration, and eventually a lack of trust of Baptist ministers. Of course, that was a response assisted along by Satan but while I eventually was corrected there are many ex-Baptists out there that are still bitter. I pray that God will teach you how to view the Bible with a Kingdom culture perspective.

I remember when I was younger my grandma used to decree and declare Abraham blessings over my life and that I Shall have money and that “I AM the lender and not the borrower” . She would repeat it everyday for months (we were struggling financially at the time), I was only 13😭 ever since then I have never had to ask anybody for money, poverty has not touched me, and im always lending people money who ask , as I am generous. I’m in college , I don’t have a Job and yet I always have money somehow and lend to those even with jobs all because God has blessed my life and my grandmother spoke it into fruition. Words are very powerful so let’s not act like it’s a fairytail and can’t happen !! I was just reading how David cursed Joabs entire family and his future generation just by his tongue for killing God’s chosen king, Saul , 2 Samuel 3:29
@Kjstyles4317
@Kjstyles4317 2 ай бұрын
Proverbs 18:21 The tongue has power of life and death. Yes all things are possible though God ! Humans though can speak of things as if they already exist in their life and it shall come to pass God willing. When we pray we are supposed to speak as if God has already done it for us because he has! This is why I try to stop saying things like “im tired” or “sad” when I really wasn’t because I would start becoming what I spoke over my life. When a human speaks things over their life their subconscious mind starts to believe they are already in that state and it starts to become reality.

THANK YOU!!! Exactly what I was looking for. As a new believer, I have such a deep experience with New Age, including daily manifestations, meditation and all various practices. The truth is that it never saves. It does give an illusion of power over your own life but THIS is what takes us further from God. I web I felt I was my own God and felt suuuuper powerful and righteous. I miss that drive I had sometime, but I remember who SAVED me from when I was at the bottom on bottoms. I remember who saved my life and gave me peace and don’t want to betray him just for some sort of feeling that I had about myself before. As someone who practices daily meditation for 222 days in a row: stay away from it! Pray, read the Bible, talk to your fellow Christians but do not try these… Thank you for explaining this in the video again ☺️

At 1:35 you claimed that your thoughts don't affect one outer reality and It's some new age concept, this is not true. Science has proved a long time ago that our inner-talking wether positive or negative will impress our subconscious mind which affects our perception of reality. Let's say there are two people looking for a job, Bill and John. Bill says negative things to himself all day, he's cynical, and constantly saying to himself I'm never going to get a job! While on the other hand John, says loving positive things to himself all day, he's believes it's inevitable that find a great job. Who Do you believe is going to have easier time getting hired? I personally have a relative who is very much like Bill and he is very Christian he prays every day he goes to church all the time, yet he constantly puts himself down, complains about virtually everything whenever I spend time with him, and he leads a very sad life and I pray for him that he will turn his life around. What we focus on expands, The book Psycho Cybernetics by Dr. Maxwell Maltz states that our subconscious mind has no concept of good or bad, thus what my relative focuses on is how he is unworthy and unlovable and his subconscious gives more evidence to support those beliefs. Because of this my relative doesn't notice all the times when he is loved and when good things happen to him. The opposite is also true, we can consciously choose positive thoughts about ourselves, and to see the silver lining in difficult situations. If we persist our subconscious will find evidence and we can develop new empowering beliefs.
