August 16th, 2024---that was a Friday. I had attended an outdoor wedding earlier that afternoon, and we had to postpone the actual ceremony about half an hour due to a brief sun-shower; to be followed a few hours later by a thunderstorm, (presumably the one in this video), during the reception dinner. Quite a day! August 16th will always be forever etched into my mind---that was the date I had to put my beagle Bailey to sleep, the first dog ever in my life, on 8/16/12.

@@gaguy1967 Absolutely but there’s a difference between taking off into a storm and taking off with storms in the area. Essentially every “stormy takeoff” video you see is the latter. Airliners would basically never takeoff INTO a storm. They skirt around them which is perfectly safe if margins are respected

7:40 She's right, it's not ok. I'll never understand pilots and cruise ship captains that make stupid decisions. Not a single person on that plane that wouldn't' have had a problem waiting 30 mins until the weather cleared and there is no frikken reason ship captains sail through hurricanes. Just dumb.

I went to a fear of flying course many years ago 'run by Qantas and learnt a lot about planes flying through the turbulences one thing that assures me the pilots want to be alive as much as you are so they wouldn't put anybody at risk unless if its too dangerous to fly. Turbulences are not nice but it will pass.

I've taken off of this runway before. My grandparents and my aunts and uncles live(d) in Albany. Had a couple of scary landings there, but I love the airport!
