I got the 18 hp where to go reverse u put it on neutral and turn the key half way n when u go forward u turn the key all they way clockwise I’m looking to get a sharp a blade and oil what brand to put that’s best I can’t seem to find any

I have a 98 MTD tractor Tecumseh engine and I have a Toro tractor with Brigs and Stratton. The used Toro came with a Kawasaki filter if I remember. I have been using an STP 3512 on my MTD since new. It fits all tractors. I've posted this since I got my first computer. The STP is rated very good and the gasket is thick and easy to seal

The auger is turning the wrong direction… may just be a belt routing issue. I know nothing about this tractor or blower but I can tell you it’s spinning the wrong direction. Also add some weight and chains and you’ll be good to go!

Thanks, I noticed the auger spinning the wrong direction when watching/editing the video and yea I'm pretty sure the belt is not on correctly. Don't have wheel weights but I do have the chains

I guess they were air starting it, and the backfire happened when they cut the air and introduced fuel. Perhaps at the wrong time, or maybe too much fuel built up in one cylinder. It's also nice to see a big old engine actually running at about its rated speed. Too many of these people run them real slow for fear of breaking them... as if that's really a problem. As you can see, its rated speed is maybe 100rpm, that's pretty slow. And they're massively overbuilt. It didn't last 110 years by sheer luck.
