I've used this technique on myself and others several times each time successfully. On 2 occasions I couldn't do it myself, and had to walk someone else through it and they also succeeded on the first try.

Is it possible to do another test pulling at the start and the hook? Since no fish is going to bite the end. In practice I found this knot is easier to break than I thought. I was wondering if this is the reason.

I love it so far but how is the strength of this carrot knot compared to an FG knot? The carrot is much easier to tie, at least for me.

Yes, much easier to tie. The FG knot is the strongest, I intend to do a breaking test soon.

I always read that beginning and ending strands should come out of the loop in the same direction for the Albright knot. In this example, the beginning strand goes through the loop from "bottom to top", so ideally the ending strand should be finished by going through the loop from "top to bottom". However, you finish it by going from "bottom to top". Does this even matter? Ironically, I've seen images with the Albright knot finished both the "wrong" way and the "right" way, which is weird since many instructions heavily emphasize that the beginning and ending strands should come out of the loop in the same direction. Can any knot nerds chime in on the importance (if any) of the beginning and ending strands going through the loop in the same direction?

Very useful! With the help of this video I could use correctly my new Swiss Bobbin Knotter. If it could help anyone any further, don’t crank the drag too much otherwise you won’t be able to change the direction of the knot: it will just keep going forward even if you have the line almost vertical.

I have used this variant on my fluorocarbon fly leaders for the last year and it performs well. Needs slow, careful and well lubricated forming down and 3 turns, not 5 turns as 5 turns often do not form down correctly and tend to bunch up. Chapstick or gink type silicone fly lubricant at the forming stage make a better lubricant than saliva. Take your time and help the dropper form into place if it is being difficult. Don't hurry things! Best to tie at home and keep in a cast carrier. Not to be attempted whilst bobbing up and down in a boat in a force 5 breeze!

It's not 100 percent. More like 75-80 percent of true mainline strength vs. advertised strength. Most popular easy to tie knots come in around 55-60 percent though.

ok, now... how do I pack these lures in the tackle box? Just disassemble them in cary each part separately? Meaning.. if i decide to change the lure, I have to wade out, sit down, open the tackle box, cut off the knot, not loose the 4mm bead in sand, wind and cold, replace the the inline lure, thead back the bead, make new knot, find the scissors, cut off the tag, wade back in the water..? that looses me AT least 15min of fishing. no wonder no one likes these lures.

Thanks for your comments. I create the in-line lures as ready rigs with a swivel or micro ring in a grip seal bag, so changing the in-line lures is quick and easy..

How do you pre rig a 150 cm leader? A swivel or ring won't go through the eyes of the rod.
@Northumberlandbasssman
@Northumberlandbasssman Ай бұрын
If you have a shoulder sling its eassy to pull round your front. Take off hook and beads hold in one hand, thread new lure on beads and hook back on. A bit practice it can take about 15-20 seconds at most. No need to leave the water or moan about the lures. I have absolutely no problem with this, and then you dont have to pre rig every line thru lure you own.
