Woooow Genial, me recordaste días pasados, solía hacer música con un pss-480 y un pss-51 (que aun tengo) y el software voyetra gold secuencer para pc... Hoy hago cosas con cubase 5 Felicidades, bien hecho...... Bendiciones

¡Muchas gracias! El PSS780 es casi un PSS480, sólo que con más sonidos de batería. Es sorprendente lo que puedes obtener de 2 operadores. Sonidos suaves y tintineantes, desde efectos cercanos a la realidad hasta efectos de robot. Uno para sonido vintage perfecto.

What recording equipment did you use might I ask? You’ve put that together perfectly well sounds great. I also create multitrack demos as a pure hobby and I use logic pro and I’ve also used GarageBand as well as other packages a few years ago.

The DAW I use is Tracktion 7. I have sufficient knowledge of this. It uses both MIDI and audio and is editable for me.

@@kerifnc I’ve not heard of Tracktion. I use logic pro as a friend of mine downloaded this for me and I’m learning as I go along at a slow pace ha ha. However, my mid skills are extremely illiterate, I’d love to utilise including tecording in midi. As I’m sure you’re aware, Recording in middy gives you full access to editing including shortening and or lengthening notes, et cetera.

@@bestrickie2 I chose Tracktion because it knows everything I need and it's free. It may not be the prettiest, but it suits me.

@@kerifnc is it user friendly and easy to set up? As I’m midi illiterate so to speak, is it easy to also set up midi? Of course, with logic pro and other similar programs, these type have of course on board built in software media instruments which record in middy instantly. The difficulty I have, is getting external midi instruments to record in midi and hear them play back.

@@bestrickie2 MIDI recording is simple, you only need to set the instrument's output channel (MIDI/e parameter). MODE 99 (MIDI/c parameter) is good for MIDI playback. Then it is multitimbral and dimanic, i.e. it can play in 12 different voices. In the case of SMF files, channel allocation is still a problem, these must be transferred manually. I usually play with SMF files, but these problems do not appear when I record myself.

Excellent performance. I’ve just bought the predecessor PSS 680 as I had one of those years ago and I sold it. However, I’m going to keep the one I’ve just bought and it isn’t immaculate condition. It is extremely similar to yours including the layout, there are different accompaniments on mine and a different demo tune.

Thanks! Indeed, the PSS 680 and PSS 780 are very similar. The PSS 780 has a more modern look, but the PSS 680 has better accompaniments and demos. But the tone is the same for both.

@@kerifnc these portable keyboards sound well enhanced when effects are added, including re-verb chorus, et cetera. I’ve had loads of different models of music keyboards over the years including the PSS 680, 780 as well as others and I create multi track demos as a pure hobbyist.

Indeed. It wasn't 1989 now, the 2-operator FM sound creation isn't real either, but you can really boost the sound with effects. A little EQ, compressor and reverb would have been sold here as well. But try it out, the instrument is definitely suitable.

This keyboard sounds really good put through VST effects like reverb. It has a much more polished sound with decent reverb.

I originally heard a midi version of Goldeneye played through a Roland SC-55 as back in the day an acquaintence had those gm sound modules as he is a music producer but when my family had their first PC one of my brothers downloaded that same midi file and it felt strange hearing it played through the Creative music synth which was an FM synth built into the Adlib Soundblaster soundcard. This keyboard's FM synthesizer is similar to the OPL3 FM synth on those old soundcards but the Yamaha PSS-680/780 is more superior and also has PCM drums sampled from actual drums and percusion instruments but I really like these crunchy lofi PCM drums. I personally have a Yamaha PSS-680 and maybe I might have a shot at rendering midi files through it.

Thanks! The PCM drums are a bit retro, but usable. Especially compared to Adlib FM's drum sounds. To edit the synthesizer and I use the program at ctrlr.martintarenskeen.nl/.

This is a MIDI file. The PSS780 is only present as a sound generator. Everything is done by the SMF player.

I just found one of these bad boys and it works. But I wondered if you had any info on it. I play guitar and use an audio interface to connect to the laptop and use software and daws for effects and recording. I’ve never used midi equipment but have a midi port on the interface plus a cable so I hoped to use this keyboard to make basic beats. But I want to know if this keyboard will allow me to program or map other things from my software to either the drum rubber pad or even the main keys? I know it is old and for now if I could just record the built in drum sounds I would be happy but it would be cool to know how far I can push this thing. Seems a decent bit of kit for it’s age

It can be used via MIDI for drums and bass. The drums are on channel 16, but with a different allocation than in GM. The manual contains the correct allocation. I found the recorded drum samples: www.mediafire.com/file/nihgo9qgskrp2kb/PSS780_DRUMS.zip Happy playing!

Ich finde es schwierig einen track der mit ganz anderen Instrumenten nachgebaut wird zu erstellen. Mit diesen Keyboards kann man ganz andere spezielle Sachen machen. Gerade im Ambient Bereich und so. Trotzdem gut👍🏻
