Why don't the towns have these code enforcers? We have a resident in our neighborhood that has 3 junked vehicles in his backyard one on gravel the other 2 behind a shed on the dirt. Also cars parked on the front lawn. We feel that this is bringing rodents. Their next door neighbor has a mice problem.

I'm impressed with Alexander's work process for his typical workday - like the old adage says, "plan your work and work your plan."

I'm a Code Enforcement Officer in a small town south of Raleigh. We have a large amount of abandoned houses with no heir able to be found during the title search process or the owners are no longer living at the property due to reasons out of their control and having no means to improve the property. These abandoned homes become occupied by squatters which brings all of the issues associated with that. I work closely with the police department to vacate these squatters but it's never a permanent fix. Do you have a point of contact that I could reach out to within your code enforcement/planning department that I could discuss the long-term or permanent solutions your city has come up with to address this issue that I'm sure has occurred in your city as well?

Great video. It really gives a good overview of some of the types of activities that are involved in a typical day for this job. I was impressed by all three of the staffers featured in this video, but was particularly impressed by Brian's concern for the well being of those that he interacts with as part of his job, and his willingness to seek out available resouces to assist residents, when possible.

Thanks for this presentation. I read that last few years 80% of the homes bought were in HOA's. This is a major issues for native gardens, because, many HOA's unfortunately have boards that do NOT allow for native front or back yards. I know Maryland passed a native plant law that prohibits HOA's from banning native gardens. It seems like either the lawyers that write these HOA laws or the permitting process should be altered so that these gardens are allowed in more places. It's hard enough getting rid of invasive bermuda grass, homeowners should not also face laws designed to only allow for grass.

Most require super majority of 67% 41:30 closing conclusions then Question and Answer. The lawyer states that best way to get people to vote is to put increasing dues on the ballot because many peopel are apathetic until it hits them in the pocket book.

I'd encourage everyone to mow less. it's better for the environment. SlowMow is a granual product that is a reverse fertilizer which makes the roots grow more than the top grass blades. in the off season you can sometimes get on clearance for cheap at lowes. T-NEX is the commercial name. Also instead of watering your grass in the summer give it some hydretain which helps get water to roots or A stress blend in the summer. better yet convert lawn to native plants which dont' need water or mulched wood chips
