I love the old school match racing compare to the newer foiling boat that relies on mechanical hydraulics and rigid sails. In the older traditional boat, the coordination of the crew makes a big difference especially when the performances of the boats are closely matched.

Can't agree more. There's no seamanship in modern racing just a tv show for sponsors. Look at the course, the tactics, the set of skills, the rules. It's the end of an era. Plus the wind range for those ugly birds. I can see it for ocean racing (Paul Ricard?), but definitely a killer of the sport of sailing for future generations (see most new Olympic classes).

I rarely post reviews but the atrocious design of their beloved Thermocoupler and even worse support from Bertazzoni themselves pushes me to WARN ANYONE THINKING ABOUT PURCHASING A BERTAZZONI RANGE!!! We recently replaced that ridiculous Thermocoupler for the FOUTH TIME in just under 6 years. The only time Bertazzoni covered it was the first, when the range was only 6 months old. If this had been a car, the "lemon laws" would have gotten me out of this piece of junk. But it's a range so, no such luck. Bertazonni is fully aware of the unreliability of the Thermocoupler but refuses to spend the money to design (or purchase) an ignition system that actually works. They know that they will probably only have to pay to replace one Thermocoupler under warranty while we, on the other hand, are on the hook for all the rest for the life of the range. Between the initial cost of the range (which is very high!), the 500% markup on the piece itself (no "generics" made) and the kick backs from service reps for referrals on replacing these pieces, there is no financial incentive to make a change. And there is obviously no pride of workmanship or ownership in the company or issues like this would have been changed YEARS ago!!! I can only humbly suggest you think long and hard about that pretty, Bertazzoni range you may be considering. At first blush, it looks like it would make an amazing focal point in your kitchen...just the thing to make you look like a Top Chef! But do yourself a huge favor and Google this issue yourself. You will be shocked to see just how many people have experienced not only the same problem with getting their ovens to light at all AND/OR the problem having the oven light initially but not stay lit, but the same LACK of support and assistance from Bertazonni. If you have the money for a Bertazonni, I guarantee you can find at least a half dozen choices of beautiful ranges that work! Cheers!
@mustangsallyride7 жыл бұрын
I have had the same problem with my range since the day we bought it! The "special part" responsible for the problem has been replaced 3 separate times over the last 5 years and now it's doing it again. If I could, I'd pick it up and throw it out the door and let it be someone else's problem. For the amount of money we paid for this thing one would think it would work. An oven is not the most complicated thing in the world. They look nice but do yourself a favor and NEVER buy one! Yes, John the broiler lights fine in mine as well. A big pile of stainless steel JUNK!

These boats have a permanent full time crew of five, who sail it from venue to venue. When racing they are required to have a minimum of 35. Those folks are volunteers who may get a few days of practice before the race.
@andrewg.90867 жыл бұрын
I fully understand this, having spent a fair amount of time on several of the J's, in addition to more maxi's than I can recall.The thing is that when a crew screws up it's as much or more the fault of the leadership than anything else.And no, the boats aren't that beastly to handle, at least not if you know what you're doing. As obviated by the number of permanent "pro" crew.They're just boats, & respond to the rule of the 7-P's like anything else.

I say again, dear smartasses, you cannot distinguish a Laser form a J Class. You are obviously unexperienced to sailing. But I can understand you, by applauding any shit the media and public opinion offers you. Many people do so. Better to be somewhat critical by not agreeing with the dangerous situation aboard the big vessel. Or are you still on the Somalia level ?
@thestomppad8 жыл бұрын
+warjacare calling people out for their "inexperience sailing" yet you still don't understand why there aren't rails on a J-class yacht? Seems a bit hypocritical. For inshore racing with safety boats theres no real upside to having rails on the sides, all they do is mess up sail handling and make running sheets more difficult. If this was a boat being sailed as a cruiser for a nice leisurely afternoon out on the water for drinks with your friends, then sure probably would be a good idea to have them. But when you are running a boat for pure performance with an experienced (often professional) crew then it's pretty redundant. If the seas were bad enough to cause serious fear of falling overboard then I am sure the crew would make use of a Jackline.

Couple more times... it’ll flow. Everybody gets there job down. Great vid. Looks like the crew are still working in together. Some of the comments are overly harsh. Obviously this crew is raw. Ours just started doing this, purchased 5 years ago, 11/2010. The oven lights for a second and shuts off then will no longer light at all. The broiler works fine and all the burners work fine. Anybody find a solution? Sounds like I may be out of luck of it is a thermocoupler if they no longer make the part.

@mathieuduperre27139 жыл бұрын
old video, but for future reference. I had the same problem, it was due to the lightning thingy at the bottom of the oven, the thing creating the spark. The cable was cut where it gets within the oven, at the bottom, probably from heat. I had to order a new one, open all the panels, replace this cable/lighter, and everything went to normal. took me a bit over an hour as opening the panels is a real pain.
