Love this generator but the battery location Sucks!!! Just unhook the battery terminals and pull away front engine. I use a portable car battery to jump it!!! Best solution ever! Your welcome, don’t even try to remove the old battery.

I could not get at the back screws very well as I could not see where they were till i took the top section off but yes that is one option now that I know they are not welded in place

Hi Ruth, Funny I didn't find your video when I was looking 2 weeks ago. Well, what a pain to change out this battery. A friend who I finally asked to come and help said the person. who designed this should be in prison! 😄 After a few hours if misery, it looms like I need a solenoid or starter. I'm done! Called for service.

That's just stupid. There was no need to put this battery jammed up inside like that. I would remove it and weld a battery tray to the lower part of the frame like every other generator

that is a good idea if you have a welder and can do so. I don't so it would be a cost for me. but I agree the design needs some work!

Fixed this problem today . As a welder with just a small welding set up I made welds to build the worn surface back up did a little grinding to shape bought new bushings and didn't have to buy new spindle. Just a tip

Thanks. This is the exact same model I have. It's about 6 years old but has only run for a few minutes every 3 months. What model battery and where did you get it. TroyBilt quoted me $202 and I think the one on Amazon for $40 will work. I have not pulled my battery yet. Not looking forward to that as an old man but it would cost $100 to get someone to change it for me here in Florida.

I got one at canadian tire for $50 try tractor supply if you are in the US. That 200 price is crazy high unless they have really gone up the last year with all the evil agenda stuff. the one on Amazon likely will work fine. it is a 12 ah..I cant remember the rest of the numbers. you actually dont need to life the gas tank. I did that untill I realized that the nuts are welded on for the battery case. You can just reach in with a socket wrench and lossen the 4 bolts. I would put it up on a ramp or somehting so you dont have to band down if you have that option.

Removal of battery in this method is way too overkill. The only effort necessary is to reach under fuel tank where battery is located, being held in place with a case, held in place with 4 - 8mm bolts. Using a small closed-end wrench, loosen the back screws to allow case to hang. Next, remove the front bolts and remove the battery. Replace, reversing removal steps. No need to remove fuel tank or front panel of generator. That's it. Takes about 15 minutes to remove and another 15 minutes to replace. Hope this helps.

yes that is why id did what I did because it was hard to tell until I did this whether the bolts were welded on like the nuts were. once I figured out they weren't i would not take it this far apart in the future.

mine has a bolt and nut (which are stripped from the factory)which keep me from removing the battery. any sugestions?? They do not allow me to pull out the battery tray or lower it????

Possibly use a wrench to pull down that front flat a lil at a time? Hopefully without bending the battery posts. I know the top side of mine under the gas tank was welded on. The other idea of you have a Dremel. Grind a slot that will allow you to loosen them with a flat screw driver?

Or vice grips might grab them if the head is what is stripped. If the threads are stripped. I'm not sure what to suggest. Other then cutting them off flush with a sawzall

Thank you for this effort. I will say I only had to remove the two front screws on the battery tray and then pull down enough on the tray to slide the battery out. The tray is made of thick enough steel to bend without breaking toward the back where the other two screws are located. Terrible design overall. They could have simply put a lever on the front of the tray for easy extraction. Oh well, thanks again.

I had no problem taking out my battery there was only one bolt out of four that took a little patience to remove. I even relocated my battery. Worst design.

yes, terrible design. just removed the two front screws and pulled down the tray just enough to get the battery out.

T25 to take off side panel. FYI Edit: Gas tank removal is optional. Side panel is necessary.

Yes, I realized that after I had loosened the bolts, But this at least gave folks a picture of what they were dealing with which was difficult to discover till I pulled that tank up some.

Removed and replaced my battery yesterday without taking either off. My old battery was swollen and extremely snug, still got it out by removing the two front bolts and loosening the back two. This is way over the top.

Well done but I have the same generator and was able get the battery out by unscrewing the 8mm bolts from underneath the battery bracket/holder. Just remove the two front 8mm bolts and loosen the two rear enough to let the bracket/holder drop a bit and the battery will slide out. Tight fit but you can get it out.

Just replaced my battery and I removed all four bolts and took the entire bracket out but next time will try it the way you did just loosening the back bolts.

I couldn't find an easier way that didn't require unplugging all of the gas tanks hoses etc. It's back up and running.

Yes I didn't make a note about the fact that we started it outside. I only did this part of the video because there was nothing out there that showed how to actually get the battery out and back in again.
