Nice teach. They're doing this dance every week at our local dance hall and now I'll be able to join in, thanks to your video. Very clear guidance on the basics, and nice that you offered (and demonstrated) ways to make it more fun once it's in my bones. Appreciate you taking the time. Thanks!

Please look at the step sheet. The beginning steps you don't have the count correct. And there is more. Look at the sheet
@howtodancecountry Жыл бұрын
I appreciate your input but you do realize that dances vary in different regions, also just because someone created a step sheet does not mean that is the original way it was choreographed. I've been doing that dance for 15 years and that is the original way that it was taught to me. If someone wants to look up the step sheet and do it differently then I invite them to do so.

This is more than 18 steps
@barbjhix3 ай бұрын
No, he did no more 18 steps then repeated the pattern. I have seen the step instructions on paper, I've been dancing for 25 years, and will confirm he did only 18 steps and then repeat. That's how line dances work. Word of warning, he used the slow song, most bars I'm in use Charlie Daniels Devil went Down to Georgia. Then the dance right following that is Cotton-Eyed Joe

Love your videos, but it seems the 'Advanced version' makes way more sense, because all spinning and weaving is going on quick quick. Spinning on slow slow in the 'simple' and then switching to quick quick seems confusing.
@howtodancecountry Жыл бұрын
Hi! Thanks for the compliment. As to your comment, I can see why you'd say that, but there are two reasons why it's called the "advanced version". First, a double turn before the weave is more difficult for the follower than a single turn. Second, in the simple version leading her in an inside turn is quite easy for the follower to understand, whereas in the advanced version, you're actually pulling her back to do an outside turn, and with a less experienced dancer, she might get confused as to what you're doing. Faith makes it look easy, but that move can trip up some followers. Hope that makes sense. Thanks for watching and commenting!

@@howtodancecountryha ! I didn't even consider the follows perspective. Too worried about my job as the lead. That makes sense.

Yes. I agree with Lindy Box style waltz is ballroom style. Country style is progressive going around the dance floor, like Country 2 step. Very confusing in this video..

I don´t understand, why not stop after 2 x 8 shuffles and start the counts again with the next 8 counts.
@howtodancecountry2 жыл бұрын
Hi! Because with any Line Dance or Circle dance the key is everyone is doing the same thing at the same time, so if you were to change up the count or the number of moves you do you would be off from everybody else and it would cause problems. But if you were doing it all by yourself then yes, absolutely you could change it as much as you wanted.

@lilychi6608 I know, the thing with line dances as I mentioned in my response above is that they are choreographed a certain way to a certain number of steps, and whoever choreographed it called it 18 step... So it is what it is LOL
