Mine were way too thin and nothing fancy. Harris Teeter, Whole Foods and even Food Lion have much better, fresh not frozen beef. I like to support local butchers whenever possible. That's where you get the good stuff.

I bought a second hand $7 ice cream maker without any Peltier cooling, just the 24Hr pre-freezing bowl version. This model can be modified with a Peltier, even 4. I guess it takes about 30-120 Watts to supercool the container in no time with 500ml of yogurt or any ice-cream base. It basically is just the speed of cooling that makes this way more efficient. We want ice cream in 15 minutes, right? It takes 2 hours for your ice-cream maker to have real ice-cream. It takes to long with 90 WH. To modify a low budget ice-cream maker it takes a big investment and some commitment. If your version would cost $40 it is a no-brainer. Anything more than that is somewhat difficult to digest. I did not modify my ice-cream maker yet. To expensive to do.
