Just as people grew numb to caring whether a DJ auto synced a mix, so to will people not care whether a human or AI created a 3m track.

If younger people are genuinely satisfied with consuming cheap low quality AI generated content, that's their business - whether that is music or videos or games or written articles or news etc. If people are content to live their lives in a generic AI consumption world, it remains to be seen what that does to our society. It's like a "McDonalds-ifcation" of society. I have a feeling eventually there will be a backlash against this kind of cheap mass market low quality AI generated content world, where people will get bored of it and seek out authentic real experiences with real people and real artists (and real writers and real content creators etc.). Cheap low quality generic mass market experiences have been around for a long time: in fast food, elevator muzak, ear buds, fast fashion clothes & shoes, etc. When you're young and you don't have much money but you have a lot of free time, then cheap generic mass market experiences are more appealing. As you get a little older, you start to have more money and resources at your disposal and less free time, so your taste & expectations go up dramatically, and you seek out more authentic and immersive experiences. Every market has tiers: low market, mid market, high market, luxury market. Perhaps cheap generic mass market AI experiences satisfy more of the low market tier, but then as taste & expectations rise the real authentic immersive experiences are needed to satisfy the mid market and up?

if spotify are using AI to make songs in styles to take 100% of the revenue... why wouldn't people go on the AI music producer and make their own songs and playlists without spotify? download to their computer directly?

KZbin and other social media are planning to replace content creators with A.I "creators" WHY? so social media companies won't have to pay earnings to ACTUAL content creators.

From a philosophical standpoint i dont believe AI is stealing anything, its just transistors trained on other music just like our brains neurons are trained and inspired by other peoples muisc.

The maker of the AI programme is responsible for the what data set is fed into the neural network. Obviously AI isn't an independent agent (yet), but the makers of AI are and can therefore be held to a higher ethical standard. As they should.

@FunnyVidsIllustrated apply that logic to a music teacher showing a student a piece of music and training them how to play it. Then imagine the student being inspired what they have learnt and then making their own creation.

@@Grant82gc reducing the all encompassing technological advancement in ai, which is propelled by conglomerate capitalist ideals and comparing it with incremental human to human teaching and interpersonal inspiration is such a gap in philosophical dogma that it’s hard to entertain. It’s like explaining the moon landing to a 5 year old, all the nuance that makes the ai revolution a significant, transformational and disruptive force gets lost in your analogy. I simply disagree man, but I appreciate your perspective.

Yes!!! it's starting to unfortunately :( It will get to a point that you can put a brief description of what you want a song to be into the program and press a button and it writes, sings, generates melodies that fit, mixes and masters the song for you. Good bye singers (you've tested the AI singer with great results) Good bye mix engineers Good bye master engineers AI can scan all the songs and create a melody that's not being used. It use to be that good artists/producers only had access to acapellas and stems. But now AI can do a good job of extracting vocals out of a song which now every man and his dog can get anything for remixing which could be good as there's good bedroom producers out there BUT there's alot of bad ones too so you'll get way more dogy songs. We don't need to pump out songs all the time. Quality over quantity!!! Conclusion: AI can be good but the bad heavily HEAVILY outweighs the good.

I think 99% of music today is made on a computer and that just wasn’t the case in the 80s and 90s lots of musicians recording themselves to tape on 24 tracks rather than just copy and pasting chorus and versus Everyone copying each other style because they watch KZbin tutorials on how they do it rather than being an original artist You’ve only got to look at the charts there are no big superstars anymore Just a small handful Gone are the Platinum selling albums Real music doesn’t start at 120 beats a minute and finish at 120 beats a minute It deviates The DAW is the reason

Billie Eilish (with her brother Finneas), St Vincent have done exquisite works last year with very particular sounds. Very creative, experimental. So it's not quite fair to make those statements for every mainstream artist.

I’m old school. I came up producing vocals before we had DAWs or Autotune apps. I’ve made bad singers sound good (in context of the song they were singing). And, I could totally make this work as a lead vocal in certain songs and you’d never know it wasn’t a real person. Technology is getting ridiculously good and I’m here for it.

Eh, I'm not sure I'm too big of a fan of AI singers. The only exception is, well, not even AI: just voicebanks, which are pre-recorded vowels and consonants, which you have to tune yourself. Still, I personally find it easier and more fulfilling to sing myself.

This is terrible. Music is meant to be collaborative and self evolving. There are so many singers who would jump at the opportunity to sing on a producer’s song. Just use them. Also vocal classes a super accessible.

Come on. Did you say the same when drum libraries and sample libraries came out? Barring the recording artists many instrumentalists lost plenty gigs. Every innovation took away some jobs. However the art forms remained and as long as live music is appreciated musicians will always have work. Provided they are good like they needed to be back in the day, I.e. before all this tech.
@VEXUS920
@VEXUS920 Күн бұрын
@@T3Rmin4LCuRi0siTy That's a different conversation. You mentioned drums, there are costs and knowledge that come with recording and playing drums. Recording and editing vocals is so cost-effective, cheap, and often free, that using Ai to replace a vocalist is a hair too far, especially given the fact most people have voices they can use. ALSO! drum libraries are generally made by MUSIC companies and use real musicians to record samples and real engineers to mix the samples and loops. These AI companies are not music companies they aren't adding to the musical ecosystem they generally don't say how they are training these models, if they are actually using singers. The musicians that may have been used get no residuals from their voices being used. These are tech companies trying to innovate something that doesn't need it. It's disgusting.
@unsubscribbly
@unsubscribbly Күн бұрын
@@VEXUS920 Right. Especially if they're using people's voices without their knowledge consent. I personally see no issue with using someone's voice for a non-AI voicebank (eg. UTAU and others of the sort) but they have to know about it first and confirm that they know what's going on.

@unsubscribbly
@unsubscribbly Күн бұрын
@2dollarcrew Exactly. Regardless if I entirely agree with it or not, it will be used. To be honest, I'm not all too opposed to it, if they're not directly stealing from creators. If it's something like Vocaloid or SynthV, they would be using people's voices with permission, which is a positive in my opinion.

Like Jon mentions, it also seems really nice for prototyping vocals and then you could show a singer your song with AI vocals and ask if they want to sing on it, or it can be used to show a singer generally how you want them to sing, or you could use it to show a demo song to a label to better show them the potential of the song to get them to hire you a good singer, or to figure out what type of voice you want on a song before trying to pick an actual singer.

Come on, analyse 50’s, 60’s, 70’s or 80’s stuff and you gonna make a huge discovery that this process didn’t start yesterday. Those 50’s rock n roll things sound almost identical, Beatles wannabes copies from 60’s too, same disco/funk stuff of 80’s. Those people use more limited equipment and those things sounds similar. Maybe only fact is that nowadays you can discover music to the point of exhaustion and there are no limits to it
