Timing/cam chain gave up for the next owner. So it was probably that.

No, not really. Had everything checked and rode it a couple of years without problems. Suzukis just sound like traktors I guess.

Timing chain, replace cam chain tensioner, check plastic chain guides for wear and check chain for stretch, replace as needed. Yours ain't bad yet, check into a mechanical tensioner instead of the stock ones

The discs are floating discs. So the sound is quite normal and doesn't need to be fixed.

It is not XT600K. It is XT600 2KF, pre 1990.

+iamandreja Correct and not. It's a 2KF acording to Yamaha internal code, but in Sweden the models pre 1990 with kickstart are labeled XT600K and the one's electric start are XT600E. After 1990 all modell go under the name XT600E. It's a 1989 with kickstart, thus therefore I call it an XT600K

Hi I just noticed the whistling noise on your R6! Is this normal for your bike did you try find out where it comes from? I have an R1 and it does exactly the same whistling noise! Thanks

kolias89 In this video everything else besides the ticking noice (which went away with the cam chain tensioner switch) is normal engine noice.
