C'mon folks. These are new students learning. I'll bet that black belt that is instructing them could tune up many people posting here. I know nothing about Kenpo, but I'll wager that anyone who is fit and knows it could handle themselves in a fight just fine.

it amazes me how rude and disrespectfull today martial artist have become. they now think it is cool to be rude and disrespectful to other martial artist. they dont even have the couage to put themselves out there with there own videos but instead put other people down behind all while hiding there idenity. i bet they would not have the guts to say it to there face or even walk into someone elses dojo and say the things they do here and on other videos. it is sad times we live in with all the hate out there

Just for fun watch Al Tracy's videos he moves with glacier like slowness, his strikes barely have focus, he has no demonstrable power and flow. He moves like he is phoning it in. Even later in Life Parker moved crisply, with power, speed flow and precision. All his top students took it further and fought, did forms, weapons, demos, competed, many did full contact. I've seen a ton of Tracy's students and they're okay but they just don't have what the American Kenpo people did that I saw. Ed parker also just let himself get out of shape, if he'd been into conditioning, diet and something like yoga he'd have stuck around far longer, maybe even til the 2020s.

I studied kenpo, and wing chun, a lil jujitsu, grappling. And various other moves, from other styles, like aikido, systema, judo, and tykwando. And in a real street fight, none of that comes into play. I've used more blocking and counter techniques, then anything else. Ppl don't sit pretty with their arm extended for you. It's fast, brutal, and always resistant. Learn to use their momentum, and inpatients against them. Be fast, always move, and take em to the ground. I love martial arts, but most of the moves are dogshit.

I have trained kenpo for 24 years, along with judo, kali, bjj, goju ryu, shito ryu, shotokan … also work in law enforcement and a department instructor for 11 years… in martial arts the base fundamental skills in each art are typically more simple and effective , some moves may be less likely to work in most violent encounters.. that being said, not every need for use of force is a mutually agreed upon street fight or non consensual attack. Sometimes it’s a family member who is drunk, a random person getting too handsy at a bar, an aggressive date . That is where some techniques come in to play.. not every situation requires maximum effective force, sometimes the techniques we don’t think will work do in the right context.. real life example the second version in the technique of this video is basically a version of shiho nage from aikido and Japanese jujutsu , I have executed this technique on a drunk dude who wasn’t getting the hit to leave and he grabbed my wrist firmly trying basically force me listen. I did a variation of the second maneuver above taking him to the ground without injury to anyone. Some techs have their time and place it’s about how we train fro all types of scenarios under stress and resistance where we learn to apply it

@@KenpoBBB-rh9if No disrespect intended, just like to see more realism. Distance way wrong. In these attacks no need to defend, attack does not threaten the intended target. Attack starts so far outside you could run home lock the door and make a sandwich before it arrives. Training like this gives people unrealistic expectations. Even at yellow belt level distance and intended target should be real. Real attacks with actual practical techniques at a slower pace till they get it.

@@KenpoBBB-rh9if Sir I apologized for a supposed slight, no more of that nonsense. I've been at the martial arts, one thing or the other, for more than forty years. In that time I've listened to many like you stand up for nonsense. As I said real distance and real target, you don't get to punch somewhere near the head. You slow down for beginners. You do not give them any false sense of achievement. Slow and steady wins the race.

If the person doesn't know ukemi, their wrist is going to have a VERY bad day. Something people never discuss is that Aikido's kote gaeshi and Aiki Jujitsu's kote gyaku nage (demonstrated) are two ends of a spectrum of force, and that one doesn't have to operate in the extremes on either end. Kote gaeshi is sometimes too gentle to be affective (depending on circumstances, and expertise of the user [it takes more skill to be nice AND effective]) and kote gyaku nage is on the extreme end of "let's F this guy up." The difference between these two throws is the axis of rotation. In the gentler kote gaeshi, the axis of rotation is "along" the natural articulation of the joints, folding the arm back in on itself, and collapsing the center to the ground. In the battle ready kote gyaku nage, the axis of rotation is orthogonal to the rotation of the joints, **requiring** an escape fall in order to preserve their operation. What most people don't realize is that these two different methods are not antagonistic. Meaning you don't have to pick one over the other. You can actually start with kote gaeshi, and blend in orthogonal energy to either direct the fall, or to improve compliance. In this way, you can dynamically dial up the aggression of the technique, WHILE you're doing it, to allow you to customize to fit the situation's requirements.
