It looks like your 1275GT engine block is an A+ version, they were developing the A+ for the metro, however a few random minis including the GT got the A+ approximately 1979 onwards. You can tell an A+ with the forked clamp with one bolt holding the dizzy also the dip stick goes directly into the block and not in a short tube. My 1980 GT also has the A+ block 😊.

the straps in the rear were for back in the day to secure a small carry cot basically like a large shoe box a baby would lay in, which we did in a fiat 127 they were bolted through the body that was the only thing available in the seventy's, i think we got ours from Boots , hope this helps.

2 lessons learnt when I rebuilt my sons mini was, 1) Get a roll over jig, you can get one for about £300 but you know you will need to replace either sills, floorpans, heelboard, arches, boot etc and will make your life so much easier and 2) mini sand blaster for cleaning parts. The only way you make your money back on this is sticking to originality, glad to see you have the full interior and glass. I would just strip everything off the car, get it to a bare shell, strip off all the paint and get back to bare metal to see the true damage, you just know there will be lots of holes, it is a mini of course. And dont skimp on panels, genuine all the way as they fit loads better than Magnum or any other aftermarket ones
@carhunteruk8 күн бұрын
Yes I do need a jig it’s just room…..as for the panels I have bought heritage wings and front panel which seem alot better than Magnum panels……not saying magnum panels aren’t good Ryan

Ah nice. Can’t beat a 1275GT project. Fun fact, in 1969 the square fronted Mini was released. It came in 3 variants, the Clubman (base model), the Clubman Estate (Base model estate) and the 1275GT (top spec square front). The 1275GT wasn’t a clubman although everyone called it one, it just shared the square front with the Clubman models.

I've been working on mini''s since 1966 - from 850cc to modified 1340's (still have a 1275 in restoration) I've never seen the engine you showed with that short clutch lever I was only ever aware of the long lever type were the slave cylinder bolts down on top of the clutch bell housing. I also have genuine BMC workshop manuals from back in the day and nothing is shown of a short lever clutch lever I'm intrigued to learn what mini version these were fitted to.
