I have watched many videos on wall slides, this is the first one that said extend arms out if you can't make wall contact I wish I knew this years ago, I have very tight shoulders and used to just try to push my hands to the wall even though I couldn't copying video width

I've been carrying my handicapped wife with my left arm always bearing the weight for 14 years. I have perfect mobility in my right and absolutely ZERO in my left arm. I can't even bend it against the wall. It has to be straight and can't even reach my shoulder. Will it ever become as mobile as my right?

I used to do this wall exercise for years. I call it WEX. Then i stopped and then shoulder problems kept coming. Now trying to get back into it, i know why. I cant even get in position, i lost shoulder mobility and back strength. Thank you for promoting this great exercise!

Try putting your feet a little further out from the wall just enough to get your lower back against the wall.

I've had a thorasic adjustment done by a physio and in my experience you really can't do this exercise with a stiff thorasic spine. It has to have some kind of movement in order to be able to stick the upper back against the wall.

I've watched a lot of other videos of the same exercise that mentions the lower back should be flat against the wall too. Does this matter?
@freakonauta1363
@freakonauta1363 3 жыл бұрын
Yes, it does. You are compensating for the lack of shoulder mobility when you arch your lower back.

My shoulder pops, and scapula pokes out and pushes me off the wall halfway through. That's normal, right?

You gotta work on it slowly just to the point until scapula protrudes, and increase from there. The shoulder blade should run smoothly and stay in place throughout the movement.
