Autodesk has not updated their GUI, so you may need to change the settings within AutoCAD to match the appearance. Mac’s AutoCAD interface is also completely different.

Thank you for the video, as well as your other ones! I've been using them to double check my final drawings. Just a quick question: shouldn't there be a hidden line on your right side view to indicate the surface of the rectangular notch in the center of the guide? (sorry, I don't know the technical term for a cutout like that 😅)

What about the top view

This is a 2D drawing and is easiest to build in 3D with software like Fusion 360. I think I probably skipped this in the video.

AutoCAD in a PC requires the user restart the program and then change to metric or imperial.

Jesus I absolutely hate this application. Im taking this for college, and its the 2023 version, using the 2023 book, and every single chapter with the book involves telling me to do something, then the app doing something WILDLY different and unexpected, and then me ending up confused. This isn’t much different tbh, but it is still helpful I guess. All of the offset lines you’re making somehow ended up different for me. Needless to say, I’m still irritated with the class/app 😂

You type a dimension of the polygon into the command box after making the center 0,0 but you don't specify what it is then you measure it and it is right on. What did you type?

Thanks Professor. For some reason, my page setup was set to 1/8th inch. As a result, my Title Block was not centered like yours was. To fix it (hopefully correctly :) I went into File > Page Setup Manager and changed the "Plot offset" X and Y values to 0.25. That seemed to center everything.

3:18 - Thank you professor. Why would we choose Fractional over Architectural? It seems like the only difference is that the inch symbol appears, which seems like a good idea. I know you are busy, so it's okay if you don't have time to reply. Thanks for the video. Hearing all the tips is helpful.

Its all about tolerances. Machining and Manufacturing work in .00 as their baseline, while architecture deals with feet and inches.

were you able to repost or have re-recorded since? The videos you make on these drawings has been a lifesaver for me this semester. It's tough to learn from the book where a video like yours is much more practical.

Thanks professor. Just FYI, for some reason, after about 3 minutes, the sound cuts off. It continutes this way through the end of the video.

When you are in the print dialog box, use the “window” feature to select just the CAD drawing part.
