Agree. Not much shade but good place to float.
@stevewoods81162 ай бұрын
We always spent 2 nights floated one day and left. But 2 nights tent camping is enough. However as I grow older I can see just sitting there for days.

A great place to relax, just wish there was more shade trees.

Of all places you could have a wipe out on a snow mobile, it would have to be right next to a Buffalo herd.

Wonderful video. Been going there since mid 60s. Still go once a year with wife. Even went when Lake Delton was emptied. Got to walk on it. Would have liked to see the winding roads leading to Devils Lake. We like camping on south end. Now it's cabin rentals on Delton. You get old, you want comfort.
@midwestcoasttravelers10 ай бұрын
We agree on comfort.That is why we went from tents, to pop-up camper, to class C, and now class A RV. We have been there in the spring riding the ducks and river boat, and sking in the winter. It has been great every time.

This was in July. The only bad thing was the biting Yellow Flies in the evening. We put up our screened-in gazebo and that helped.

Oh my goodness - the baby alligator on the mom's head - wow! Smart baby. Saw hundreds of babies in the Everglades. Only the smart ones would figure out how & why to climb up on the mom! This state park looks amazing - we are semi heading this way, but watching this just might make me see if we can get a site here!

We enjoyed the area. The campground is busy and we needed to change sites after a few days so we could be there a week.

Dennis Port is beautiful year round! The bayside of Dennis is nice also...but a little too spread out and honky tonk (especially the beaches...usually left trashy in the summer). So Dennis Port on the ocean side is definitely the better call. Great call on The Oyster Company (I was there last week!) and Sailing Cow (a little dumpy, but good breakfast and great location...right on the beach). Thanks for posting this!

WOw, the sailing Cow. I summered at a cottage right on the beach, a 30 second walk from Sailing Cow. BTW, you missed one of the best breakfasts in Dennisport... Wee Packet.

I first visited Ha Ha Tonka in 1969 July, October, and January 1970. Working on a term paper of historical places in Missouri. I interviewed 18 members of the Osage Indian tribe. The white man misspell Ha Ha Tonka. According the tribe elders I interviewed it is one word, meaning laughing waters. The owner at that time was a restate company in Florida. The castle is half of what is was back in the late 1960's. Vandals (partying high kids had there way with the water tower and castle).
@midwestcoasttravelers Жыл бұрын
Wow. Great info. I also first visited HHT in the early 70s, before it became a state park and before the water tower burned. We drove over the natural bridge to get to the castle area. I’m as impressed with it now as I was then. I hate that you can no longer clamber around on the ruins, but I certainly understand why.
