You’re welcome! Usually I would just record me playing and pop up the sheet music for reference, but for absolute beginners I thought it might be helpful to be able to see my hands too. Would always recommend getting a teacher/learning to read as the best method ofc (“teach a man to fish” ‘n’ all that!) :) thanks for watching!

I switched from ABRSM after they marked me unfairly, vaguely and in some place incorrectly during a grade 2 piano exam

Sorry to hear this, my sons trumpet teacher had a similar experience with one of his students which is a shame. My experience with ABRSM wasn’t negative, but I do just prefer the offering from MTB :)

I have also been using MTB for many of my students in the last couple of years and recognise all these pros and cons. However, by far the hardest thing for me has been the one about student motivation- some of my pupils simply do need that target of the actual 'exam day' and so for those I'm sticking with the ABRSM visit to the school. Also some parents expect ABRSM because of the prestige element. However, personally I much prefer MTB, especially for the lower grades where I can simply use the app to do an audio recording. Thanks for your review- it's always good to hear another music teacher's viewpoint!
@ellealcornpiano4 ай бұрын
I totally agree! There’s not that pressure to be exam ready in the same way. Yes, some parents do expect ABRSM, and some schools too for scholarships, I hope that in time this will change :). Thanks for watching!
