I had the pleasure of meeting this wonderful gentleman at the restaurant I work at in Humble Texas, very nice man, he and his beautiful wife.

There is much to be said about ascending arpeggios which I believe would distinguish my SOUND. I need much work in writing out solos both mine and others on piano and other more percussive instruments

Try to go less thin and finish your growls with simple lines. You sound great man! Keep it up

Thanks for the tip!

😅 Would a completed line help you understand the changes. This is a Trane song and when I started recording the product sounds AMAZINGLY like Giant Steps but is not. In writing out the solo how would a growl be written? I write songs from the energy of compacted MUCH into 59 seconds. A fast line complete played but not written. Comprende???
@DocPeteMD5 ай бұрын
Fast lines are just that. Did you get any emotional sensation when you FIRST heard the growl? I did. A whole lot more than when I played it. This is the connection that I have with the ancestors SPIRITUALLY I did not understand the term go less thin? On the growl or the lines?
@voltagestorm17875 ай бұрын
@@DocPeteMD going thin is where your sound is less full in the higher register and if you listen to people like patrick bartley or cannonball adderley you'll hear that they sound really strong in the higher register as well as the rest of their range. While of course a gear switch could help if you're on lower quality gear, you can also just focus your sound by tightening your embrechure. And for growls if you listen to charlie parker on cherokee his growl ended with a little line to finish it off. Though I am only listing alto player, I would recommend listening to tenor players like stan getz and coleman hawkins as well

Culture has changed so much they'll probably just kick you out the moment they see you come in with an instrument
@DocPeteMD6 ай бұрын
Who said I need an instrument to record a different culture and APPRECIATE IT.? That’s the problem with YOUR CULTURE that you control. When John Kennedy was assassinated what CULTURE did it? Was it cultural? When the Black 2nd President of Mexico was assassinated 5 years before Texas Independence,what culture was responsible? If I get another dumb comment I will shut it down. I know who is behind this
