how long does it take from paremedic to Advanced paramedic
@fallbackfallion3 ай бұрын
Not 100% sure, but I believe paramedic is a BSc course and Advanced para is MSc. so it's a post graduate study.
@coover653 ай бұрын
@@fallbackfallion That sounds about right. I can only comment as an Australian paramedic, but I believe the British and Australian paramedic training structures emulate each other. Here it's 3 years of university, graduate with a Bachelor of Paramedicine then spend a year as an intern. Then you're a Registered Paramedic or Registered Advanced Care Paramedic (same skillset, different name depending on which state you're in). After 3 years as a Registered Paramedic, you can apply for the Intensive Care/MICA/Critical Care (again-same skillset, different wording) program. That's a 1-year course where you graduate with an MSc as you said. Then after a set time (usually two years) you can apply for the Flight Paramedic program. Both the Intensive Care and FP programs are highly competitive, even moreso than just applying for a position as a paramedic intern. So in a nutshell, from Year One studying paramedicine to FP is typically a minimum of ten years. They do look at years of service as part of your application to be a Critical Care and FP. Three workmates of mine went on to be Flight Paramedics. Two left after a couple of years, and returned to be op. supervisors, one's still flying after a decade.

Hi...Thanks for your video. I noticed you do not have a bear paw on the front wheel. Can you actually retract the gear in flight with the ones at the back?
@CornwallAirAmb4 ай бұрын
Hi, thanks for watching. The rear bear paws on our aircraft can retract. The ones we originally had fitted weren’t retractable but once a kit became available ours was the first AW169 in the UK to be fitted with them. Our second AW169 will arrive with the already fitted once we’ve purchased it.

@@CornwallAirAmb Thanks a lot for your response. This looks like a nice option...and a good alternative to full on skis for field landings. Have you tried those on the snow?
@CornwallAirAmb4 ай бұрын
@@guyroh1962 You're welcome. We haven't had to due to the level of snow we get in Cornwall. We have likely landed on snowy ground since having them fitted, but nothing deep enough for the bear paws to be required.

NVG mounts on the helmets. I guess you have to be ready day or night!

We do! Our service is active 19 hours a day so we're always ready for night missions.

It's my dream to become a Helicopter pilot but at my current stage in life I cant afford the training :(
@Acbaker235 ай бұрын
If you’re in the UK I believe there’s a helicenter that does scholarships. Worth taking a look at
@mitchell_97095 ай бұрын
@@Acbaker23 yeah I’ve looked but it’s very very competitive I’ve applied for scholarships before but never had any success. Unfortunately they don’t just hand out scholarships easily you need to be very academically successful and the highest calibre candidate to get one which is obvious. They wouldn’t give a scholarship to someone like me who has a love and passion for aviation but is just an average 9-5 worker. I’ll need to fork out £100k which I don’t have to do the training unfortunately

It cut off before you showed the whole helicopter. I demand the rest of the helicopter, including NVGS! Is it possible to flip on the rotor brake mid-flight? If so, how dangerous is it (assuming cruising flight) and also wtf, why? Last one and a bit odd, have you ever bumped the cyclic with your knee and started a roll? Some of those controls seem like a pretty big lean.
@dbyers3897 Жыл бұрын
Flipping on the rotor brake in mid-flight would be a bad idea since the rotors are the wings of the aircraft & you could not auto-rotate for a softer landing. A good pilot keeps hands on the cyclic & collective at all times after presetting all controls for the flight prior to takeoff.

Rotor brake it’s not allowed to operate in flight due to weight on wheel system (wow)
