I saw you tried a few instruments. Please write why you chose Hoffmann T128. I played Kawai, Yamaha and Hoffmann T128 and feel it is brilliant piano. What do you think after months of playing?
@kylow9550
@kylow9550 3 ай бұрын
I've had it for over 2 years now, and I still really like the bell-like tone and the amount of expressions you can get out of it. The only drawback is that it is rather powerful for my small room and as a result, does not record so well in a small room. It would record much nicer in a bigger room. I also wish for a slightly brighter upper treble, but I guess it is a limitations of most upright pianos. Grand pianos seem to be much brighter in the top 1/3 of the keyboard.

@@jakubbukowski5667 You can listen to my recent recordings, they don’t have the same clarity or dynamic range, due to the room size. This piano sounds better in person. Anyway I tried the shorter T122, which was a second hand. The action is remarkably similar and the tone was also pleasantly bright without being overly bright. But I was not able to achieve an acceptable dynamic range with a shorter piano, so decided to buy the T128

these Bechsteins are quite expensive... I looked at one, the VARIO 124 I think, and it was like US$38000... the new Kawai CA701 was just about US$4500... it is like 8 to 1 ratio... not to mention if I get a Roland FP-90X for $2000 or the Nord Piano 5 for $3500... like a 20 to 1 or 10 to 1 ratio

IMO, I think someone who actually considers a Concert 8 is not buying a Nord Piano for similar reasons. I’ve played both and how can I say. If you want (and can afford) such a piano, I think the Nord is not even close. Nor is a Roland FP90. Great digital pianos. But not analog.

@@DC-do3qj how often are you supposed to tune the piano? Is it about every 6 months? And then, does it matter if it is in Singapore (hot and is it humud) vs Hong Kong (hot and humid in summer) vs Florida (warm and humid all year round) vs Silicon Valley (warm during the day (20°C), cold during the night (5 - 9°C), and dry all year round (about 35% to 45% humidity))

@@winterheat the two pianos are different in quality but not very remarkably so. That's the thing about pianos, the expensive ones are not always good for value. For us, the Hoffmann satisfies all the criteria we need which would be a responsive keyboard, a clear singing tone and sufficient dynamic range. The Bechstein 124 is better in every aspect but we don't need such a great ( expensive) piano 😀

@@kylow9550 The Bechstein A124 Vario I saw was about US$38000... quite expensive... if we consider a Kawai upright can be $4000 to $5000, and the CA701 is about $4800. The store salesperson was saying Bechstein and Hoffman upright gives a grand piano sound though. Do you use VSTs? I like the Pianoteq K2 and Bechstein, and the one that can compete with them is the Ravenscroft 275: kzbin.info/www/bejne/eKHaf5eqqNWijc0 and kzbin.info/www/bejne/kKPbkIifasikpdU

Dear Gustav, it's all about personal preference. So what if you've got Kawai K800? Try playing some songs on your Kawai K800 and show it to us if you think your choice is so special. I have met some people who are loyal supporters of Kawai but constantly criticize other people who choose W Hoffmann, Yamaha, Seiler, Kayserburg or other piano brands without offering a simple, convincing explanation of why they think other brands are bad. Ridiculously childish. Oh and just to let you know, I own a Kohler and Campbell piano that others considered as "junk". I came from a poor family and this is the budget piano I could afford so far. It has served me well for 25 years and still going strong.
