Impressive video, PowerSymphonic. Looking forward to your next upload! I smashed that thumbs up button on your content. Keep up the awesome work! Your passion for Steel Prophet really shines through-what elements of their sound do you think have evolved the most since their formation in 1984?
@powersymphonic9 күн бұрын
@KeyserTheRedBeard Genuinly I think like say for instance acdc, status quo you can see they have kept the original formula and are happy with it but also you can tell that they have evolved. Granted every band out, they go through that period of trying a different sound, and some bands pull it off perfectly, yet some of them fail miserably and go back to their original sound. With steel prophet, I think the guitar work seems like it's evolved but kept the original sound if this makes sense. Steve Kachinsky, the main song writer it shows that with each album 🙂 I don't know the whole ins and outs of this band, so I do need to more research into the history etc but I'm excited to fully crack the band wide open 😁 Do you have a favourite album/song? 🙂

My favourite album of 2024, Dream Theater were the first band that really got me into prog metal and Opeth were one of the next bands I checked out and their stuff along with other prog bands such as Tool and Symphony X grew on me over time. I've since become a huge prog fan. Your mention of arguments on how to pronounce band names just reminded me about your mention of the pronunciation of Rammstein I've heard only a few people ever saw Rammsteen and I know you've always pronounced it correctly including the s with a 'sh' sound.
@powersymphonic16 күн бұрын
@zonic26 I know quite a few people who can't roll their R's, so it's understandable they can not pronounce the name. I get that some people say a band name a different way like for instance Deicide I've heard it spoken different ways so I usually look for interviews and see how band members pronounce it being it's their band 😊 I need to fully dip into more Tool as I like what I've heard. When it comes to prog, I've gone back to where it all started and I love the godfathers of Prog 'Yes' if you haven't listened to them then I highly recommend them especially the album relayer 😊 Thank you for your kind words though
@zonic2616 күн бұрын
@@powersymphonic Oh yes I forgot about the R rolling, I've tried that many times and still struggle. I've also heard a similar story for Deicide as well, I once heard of someone who thought it was pronounced 'Day-i-cide' but I always thought 'Dee-i-cide' made perfect sense because it's basically the word decide with an extra I in between the E and C. I was referring to more towards prog metal but for the ones who influenced it including your mention of Yes I've checked out little of each of those bands, I know they influenced many bands and similar stories with Pink Floyd and Rush.
@powersymphonic16 күн бұрын
@zonic26 It's understandable struggling with the r's so if someone says it wrong I never correct them I just carry on chatting and I mention the name and say it the way it's meant to be said which a few have tried to correct me until I show them youtube videos with the band saying their name 🙂 I used to get Deicide wrong until one day while watching a music dvd and Glen pronounced it the proper way and I was like 'ohhhh so that's how you say it' 😂😂 Cant be helped when someone struggled pronouncing a band name as it's just one of those things :)

They went through several lineup changes in the past. In the 80's and 90's they had changes in everything but the singer. The guitarist on this album was only there for the first 2 albums, then they got a new guitarist that's still in the band today. From 2000 onwards it's pretty much been the same lineup. Although nowadays the singer pretty much does everything himself, but from what I've seen I have a hunch a new guitarist called Tommy Vitaly might do stuff with the band in the future. I have their albums on CD. It's a great band, and I really love the singers voice. If you don't know who the guitarist is on this album, check out his solo stuff. After he left the band, he started to do his own solo band. His solo band changed it's name twice I think, so it's like under two names, "Jack Starr" and "Jack Starr's Burning Starr". He has a lot of great songs and people that sang and played in it, like Rhett Forester sang on one of the albums in the 80's. And did you know the guitarist on this album was going to join KISS. He auditioned for them and they were going to have him join KISS, but they told him he was too short.

One of my favourite bands of all time. Saw them five times in four different locations-London twice, Dublin, Tampere and Melbourne. The last one was my favourite as it was a very intimate gig at a venue that held no more than three to four hundred as part of the Once Tour in March 2005. Got all CDs signed by Emppu a few hours before the gig. Hard to believe it's nearly twenty years ago now. Big contrast to when they packed out Wembley Arena in December 2015 supported by none other than Amorphis. What a night that was! As always cool review. Happy listening.

I use Discogs as I like buying from small retailers and home dealers. What I hate about it is the addition of bootlegs to the official catalog of a band. Another thing is high postage costs which is bewildering. A CD costing €4 can be up to €25 for shipping! Amazon shipping is far cheaper unfortunately. It’s not perfect but Discogs is a great way to find out an items value.
@powersymphonic3 ай бұрын
@@KRAZEEIZATION I collect bootlegs as well as official as I know some bands when they play live on a certain tour they only play a selected song on that tour and then it's never played again or you get some rare remixes or unreleased stuff :)

Discogs is equally awesome as it is useless. Great for cataloging your discography but not a true assesment of value. Submitting new titles is a complete shit-show!
@powersymphonic3 ай бұрын
@stevencrash So far, I've not had to submit a new release, but when it comes to it I know it will be a nightmare. My only hate to discogs is having to figure out postage etc and watching ages for something to turn up 😂
@BG-id2cv3 ай бұрын
Been a Discogs member for 14 years. Submitting a new release is fairly straight forward... look for a similar release by the same artist, then click on "Edit Release"...on the next page click on the "Copy To Draft" and then put in the details of your new title and submit. That's it. I submit a new title at least once a week and have no problems. As for value assessment, yep, can be variable but on the other hand values of recent purchases on Discogs can be a much better indication of what an item is really worth than what would be found on eBay for instance. eBay prices from many vendors are ridiculous.
