At 19, I met a man that introduced me to crack, it took me 4yrs to clean myself up. My brother has been addicted to H and pain pills since he was a teenager, he is 9yrs younger than me. So, please believe me when I say, I see you, and I hear you. I have never been to a "rehab" I got clean on my own. We lost my stepson to a fent. O.D. 11-21-21. I just lost my best friend to a fent. O.D. on 12-11-23. I never even knew she was using again. My heart aches from the loss. How did i not see it!!!!! I failed her, and now i have to walk this earth without her for the rest of my days. This town, this parish (Livingston) I don't recognize anymore. I am so sorry for the loss of your daughter. They say it gets easier, but that is a lie.

So what is a drug addicted? Because when it reaches a certain community its a sickness or poisoning. Cause when crack ran through the black community in the 80's they were drug addicted.

I’m an opiate addict. In 87/when I was 15 I got bone cancer and lost a leg 12 years later in 99. Been through so many surgeries. I can’t stand life clean. I do work out a lot and stay slim. Last operation the anaesthesia dude gave me fentanyl. I didn’t like it. Other opiates feel a lot better, so it sucks that they blend this crap in good old H and kill kids.

My son had a hip replacement at 14 and they would not give pain medication just ibuprofen.. I didn’t argue with them and when I look back I’m glad they didn’t..

Pain pill should never be ordered for teenagers! Give them ibuprofen! They don't know pain pills exist anyway so they can't ask for them. I think it is totally inappropriate to give pain pills after tooth surgery to a teenager! We have to get better at this as healthcare professionals

Every parent on these types of videos likes to bring up marijuana because they want something to blame. Marijuana does not cause hard drug addiction or death. Most humans who have experiences with marijuana have no issues. It just makes sense that people who are hard addicts also have used marijuana.

My son accidentally overdosed on fentanyl around Christmas. He was using cocaine( which was wrong) and there was fentanyl in it. He survived with not defecits and has been in recovery since Christmas Day and he will be in there until Christmas of this year. He is doing awesomely and never wants to use anything again. Are you fucking serious, got my wisdom teeth taken away when i aw about 15 (i'm 49 now) Sure wasn't "comfortable, especialy at the time they did it, it was not a full anesthesia , and one side after the other. Now, 15 years later, our son had his removed, full anesthesia, one hour. And of course it hurt, but he didn't have to take strong medication. Just for a few days, cold and minced meals. Ice cream, gaspacho (cold spanish soup, don't tell me you don't find such in USA) And low painkillers. He got over it in a week... And he doesn't even remember it as a painful part of his life. What's wrong with you americans? Making all your patients addicts? And leaving them by themselves..

So many of these stories start with someone having major surgery and being prescribed opioids. I, myself had 3 major surgeries but refused when they not only offered Vicodin, Hydrocodone, Tramadol and/or dilaudid. I refused all drugs for the very reason this video was made. I saw too many of my friends end up addicts. When I refused, the dr. said, but it's the best for pain................."Ok, but no thank you". They prescribed a prescription strength tylenol that was more than sufficient. I had an entire face lift and only took one pill........ It can be done. Refuse when the real drug pushers (DOCTORS), insist it's the BEST.

I wasn't a saint but I'm so glad I never fell into the (hell) of opioids.

Everything Victoria's mama is saying resonates SO SO deeply with me . I didn't have a supporting family during my addiction; I was left to raise my kids alone , to help myself, my family just couldn't cope . after the worst 6 years of my entire life I just did it, after meeting the most amazing and supportive (non drug using man) who never forced me ,but waited until I was ready. I went on the buvidal (subutex) shot in September 2021 and have been clean ever since. We do recover. Im so sorry for your loss. Im in recovery and have to take methadone every day and probably will for the rest of my life. I also know ive literally swapped onw addiction (the heroin/morphine/oxycontin) to methadone. But it stops me being in withdrawals. I totally understand what victoria meant when she said she was scared of living because i feel like that too, even my methadone acts as a bandage to the way i really feel about myself. Everyone talks about 'Fentanyl' kills, but in reality it starts before that; A nation with super unhealthy medicine habits. Im originally from Europe, now living in USA working as an attorney, and ive seen so many lives being ruined by drugs - whether its death or life sentences.... A huge issue in US is the medical industry. We have doctors who gladly perscribes addictive opioids to little kids - even when not needed, but because they make money and because in america, pills are the answer to everything. When the doctore stops prescribing, the young people now already addicted, start buying drugs elsewhere, now at the risk of buying drgs laced with fent.
