Simply awesome sir. My only criticism is you not wearing eye protection......don't learn the hard way like it did.......aside from that, very cool project. Amazing, actually.

You might consider cutting the ends of the beams loose from the plates in the beam pockets. With those plates being bolted to the wall, the beams can't expland and contract with the changes in temperature. This may cause cracks in the walls below the beam pockets.
@Wolfpupfab
@Wolfpupfab 2 күн бұрын
I am not too worried about that. The bolt holes are a little oversized to allow for small movement. Other than that I don’t think there will be enough movement to cause cracking

So lucky to have sandy soil. Here in eastern PA it’s all shale rock. No way this job could’ve been done without first moving the house, and then using a breaker hammer or explosives.

26:40 Wouldn’t you need a p-trap on that anyway to prevent sewer gases from coming into the basement through the empty drain? And the u or p shape would raise the pipe connection up enough to give you a better slope on that long pipe.

I had a contractor over to give me an estimate for work to be done at my house. I asked him if it was even possible to do what I was asking. Without hesitating, he looked at me and said, “if you have the money, anything is possible with a house. We can even lift it off the ground if you want.” This video made me think of that quote.

If your planning on a bathroom, make sure you insulate the pex tubing under the toilet if your planning on using a wax ring so it won’t melt. Otherwise you’ll need to use the silicone flange kit.

Are you using a glycol system for the radiant floor heat? Hot water or electric?
@Wolfpupfab
@Wolfpupfab 7 күн бұрын
The plan is an outdoor wood boiler. I don’t think I will be doing a glycol mix because of the cost and I hear the heat transfer diminishes with a glycol mix. Just have to make sure the pump doesn’t go out… risk water freezing

Flowscreed is the way for areas of that size, especially if you're having underfloor heating and actually pumping it in. Insulation down, pipes down, light gauge plastic sheet and pump it in, you'll be walking on a perfectly flat finished floor in 48 hrs. The little bit extra you spend will be saved on levelling up, glues and ease of floor coverings. 1 issue is insulation under the garage floor and then parking vehicles on it?
@Wolfpupfab

Are you talking about an epoxy floor coating?

@@Wolfpupfab Sorry, I could've sworn I replied to this yesterday. If you google "Liquid Screed" all of the info is there, it definitely saved me money on my own house and then others I helped people with. I'm not sure about the garage area though, I assume that's not having insulation and just solid concrete with a vapour barrier.

Impressive moving the #400 I-Beams into position over the existing sewer line, you can tell your helpers have years of experience 👍 Was hoping you didn’t damage the house with the mini excavator, but still impressive that during the entire raising and lowering of the house, this was the only real damage, not too shabby 😊. BTW, during my house/garage ICF build, the basement/garage slab was all poured before any construction of the house & garage, drove my contractor crazy, he wanted to get started and was “over” all the ground work, but it really was easier for the concrete guys, as they could get the pumper boom in everywhere, and they where able to use the finished floor as storage/staging.. well after the house/garage was finished, I epoxy coated both floors, which came out great and covered up any minor damage.. I also had a French perimeter drain installed to a basement sump pump, that doubled as a Radon collection system, vented through the roof via the sump airtight lid vent. 2 layers of 2” foamular 250 where installed under the concrete, along with 15mil Stego vapor barrier (important to keep moisture out of the house & garage for a NetZero house)

A slinger would be a fast way to install gravel under the floor if you can shoot through some openings in walls. Use AMPEX for pex tubing in radiant floor, R-10 to R-16 is available

Where I live in SE Pa., a garage floor drain has to go into a tank. If you aren't getting it inspected it doesn't matter. They could use a motorized wheelbarrow to get the concrete under the house. I would wrap those support posts with something so they aren't in direct contact with the concrete. Good video.

Not sure if it was mentioned or what your method was to get the PVC pipe out of the joiner, but for anyone wanting a tip to get the PVC out after gluing it up without hacking away at the connector, cut the pipe just longer on the end you want to remove, put a small smear of cement glue over the cut pipe on the inside like you would if you were gluing it... and light it up. You need to make sure your bottle isn't anywhere near you and you don't put too much on, be ready to extinguish it after a couple or few seconds. It softens the pipe just enough that you can get a flathead screwdriver in under the lip and apply force as you go around and it will just pop it out pretty easy. You then primer on the inside and its like you bought it.
